Adamson brings A-game

THINGS are starting to get rather hectic for Mildura centre Caitlyn Adamson.

Not only is her A Grade netball side barrelling towards finals action at a rate of knots, but she has also taken on a rather big challenge off the court as well.

“I’ve just gone out and started my own accounting business,” this week’s Mildura Golf Resort SFNL Netballer of the Week said.

The start of tax season coinciding with the business of end of the netball competition makes for an interesting blend.

“It’s a busy time of year,” Adamson understated with a laugh.

“I only started this month, but it’s all good and I solve it,” she said of her on-court off-court balancing act.

She may be flying solo in the office, at the moment, but on court Adamson has plenty of help.

“The other players definitely get around me and tell me if I am doing things right and that helps me a lot,” said Adamson, 25, who made her A Grade debut last season.

“We connect really well and try to back each other up. Everyone just gets around each other and motivates each other.”

Also of great assistance is the partnership she has forged midcourt with fellow centre Molly McDonald.

“It’s really good that Molly and I rotate so we can go extra hard when we are on the court. We do about seven and a half minutes each quarter,” she said.

While a relative newcomer to the top-flight, Adamson has settled comfortably into her role on a team which looms as unbeaten Wentworth’s only real threat to this year’s crown.

“It was nice to get brought up to A Grade for a few games last year. I’d never done it before. It’s been good and I’ve learnt lots,” she said.

“I love it, they are awesome to play with. They are such good players and make me feel comfortable.”

If there’s one weakness to her game, it’s a lack of chat on the court.

“I try to talk more out there and it’s something I’ve been working on,” Adamson said.

“I’m just trying to get a bit more confident about my talking on the court through practice at training and things like that. I do talk a lot off it though.”

Adamson is the Mildura Golf Resort SFNL Netballer of the Week for round 14. She receives a $150 voucher for the Mildura Golf Resort.
