Two arrested over attempted taxi robbery

TWO youths have been arrested over an alleged attempted armed robbery of a taxi driver in Mildura.
The males were arrested by police at their home address on Wednesday.
Investigators will allege that in the early hours of Sunday morning the pair restrained and threatened a taxi driver with a knife before demanding money.
Police said the pair then left the scene empty-handed.
The driver sustained minor injuries.
Both males have been charged and will appear at a children’s court at a later date.

Driver breath test reads 0.224

A DRIVER has recorded a blood alcohol reading almost four and a half times the legal limit, according to police.

They said they pulled over the 25-year-old man about 4am on Friday and he recorded a reading of 0.224.

His vehicle was impounded, his licence immediately suspended and he will receive a court summons.

At 4am on Saturday police also pulled over a male driver who they said returned a breath test reading of 0.137.

He was charged, bailed to Mildura Magistrates’ Court and his vehicle was impounded.

About 4.30pm Saturday, a 46-year-old Cardross woman was pulled over by highway patrol members on Ontario Avenue.

She returned a breath test reading of 0.054.

The woman received a $496 penalty notice and her licence will be cancelled and disqualified for three months.
