WENTWORTH

WITH the club championship completing the first round vet Ron Moore charged to the lead with a fine 71 net/36 points.

Col Stewart playing his best round for some time was runner-up on the day, with 72 net and 35 points

Ball winner was John Stephens with 73/34 points.

NTP John Stephen 368 cm on the12th Mr Risky to the North School’s Bill Murray with 24 points.

Sunday commenced the second round of Club Championships.

The good weather brought out the good golfers with Damian Fairley producing a fine 67 net/40 points to win the day .

Runner-up went to Ron Moore with 68 net 39 points. 

Ron is overall leader of the championship.

Ball winners were Ged Chapman with 71/36 points and John Stephens 72/35 points.

NTP also went to John who makes it a habit on the 12th with 350cm.

Mr Risky went to Bill Slee with only 82/25 points — horrendous.

RIVERSIDE

NOVEMBER 2 was a winner for Gavin Minter on 38 points from Jim Callaway’s 37 points.It was a medley Stableford on Melbourne Cup day and Gary McNally took the win on 37 points over Darren Gray with 36 points.

Wednesday’s men’s Stableford saw Simon Dale win A Grade, after a count back with Damien Arney, both on 39 points.

A three way count back on 37 points for B Grade left Gary McNally on top and John Denman second, followed by John Dobie (Heathcote).

Oak’s Day on Thursday was a Four Person Better Ball, with the Ladies enjoying a fun day. 

The winning team of Maeve Fraser, Lyn Delmenico, Ayse Jewitt and Karyne Scheer finished with 25 points, with second place going the way of Lauren Hicks, Jan Hiscock, Meg Hamence and Val Berry (23 points).

Friday’s nine hole Medley Stableford went to Tim Sheean after his 20 points, with a four way count back seeing Mark Lee grabbing runner up from, wife Tracy, Gavin Minter and Ray Cottle, all on 19 points.

The Ladies saturday Stableford was won by Ayse Jewitt on 36 points.

Congratulations to Karyne Scheer who finished her day with a hole in one on the 18th.

There were three Grades in the men’s Saturday daily comp.

A Grade went to Sudiran Aping on an excellent (78/69) nett, with Barry Pilgrim on (78/70) and third place, Kendall Marchment (74/71) on a count back from Tony Scullino.

Shane Johnson was B Grade winner, with another outstanding score (82/69). Stephen Peterson (85/71) was runner up, after a count back against Joe Lando (84/71), Marty Scott and Jack Risstrom.

The top two in C Grade were sizzling, finishing with amazing scores. 

Winner was Tuarae Kirirua (89/56) and Malo Kirirua (88/58). 

Third place went the way of Okotai Woetai (94/68).

Sunday’s Daily results saw Brendan Rowse (70/71) taking the win in A Grade, on a count back from Jarrad Stokker (71/71).

Anthony Harmes was the B Grade winner (83/69), from Ben Bamborough (82/70).

The C Grade win went to Nomai Pakere (93/66) over Malo Kirirua (91/70).

This past weekend was also the start of the Men’s Club Championships.

Veterans: Leader Leigh Fuller (84-76=160), from Mark Woodhouse (84-77=161).

Seniors : Leader, Ian Dickason (72-74=146), from Barry Pilgram (70-76=146).

COOMEALLA

IVAN McKenzie won last Wednesday’s A grade with 41 points.

Aaron Blake was runner-up on 40, with Craig Tung third on 38.

Kym James won B grade with 39 points, Paul Modica was runner-up on 37 points on count back from Brendon Garlett.

Nearest the pins: third – Aaron Blake 60cm, seventh – Noel Thomas 192cm, 11th – Craig Tung – hole in one, 18th – Jason Deckert 45cm.

The women player par with Susan Mills the winner on +6. Sue Arthur was runner-up with plus three. 

Nearest the pins: third – Sue Laird 45cm, seventh – Susan Mills 465cm, 11th Susan Mills 63cm, 18th Susan Mills 306cm. 

Friday was a Medley nine hole Stableford.

Winner was Terry Albion 20 points, runner-up – Gary Thomas 19 points.

Nearest the pins: 11th – Garry Woods 1090cm, 18th – Alan Scorer 1066cm.

November 7 men’s monthly medal and medalist of year play off.

A grade winner – George Poriazis 69 net. Runner-up: Stan Prymke 69 net. third: Nathan Wilton 69 net.

B grade winner – Luke Perry 68 net. Runner-up: David Guild 70 net. Third: Neil Bryant 71 net.

C grade winner – Aaron Hawkins 65 net and winner of Medalist of the Year.

Runner-up – Peter Lorrie 68 net, third: Ian Perks 71 net.

Nearest the pins: 3rd – Anthony Mills 417cm, 7th – John Coleman 115cm , 11th – Rod Hand 1300cm, 18th – Barry Waters 295cm.

Winner: Ros Hocking 69 net. Runner-up – Sharon Morrell 71 net.

Chase Kerr on Sunday’s Medley Stableford with 43 points. Runner-up was Wally Schulz with 41 points.

RED CLIFFS

LAST Wednesday the men had a Stableford, game the winner was Nev Walker with 37 points on a countback from Phil Shaw. 

NTP: eighth Jeffrey Scott; 12th Kevin Leach: 18th Jeffrey Scott.

The ladies played a 4BBB stableford which saw Sally Jones and Cathy Griffith team up well scoring 45 points to win from Marg Maynard and Carmel Briody who had 44. 

NTP: 3rd Deb Hassell; 8th Suzanne Johns; 12th Liz Leach; 15th Jill Eyles; 17th Deb Hassell.

Saturday was stroke medallist of the year for the men and brewery cup for the ladies.

In the men’s competition Tom Minns won A grade on a countback from Ken Woosnam, both on 74 net. 

B grade winner was Brett Overton on 73 net from Jason Plant.

NTP: 3rd Mal Blagus; 5th Chris Barko; 8th Andrew Wood; 15th John Gooch; 18th Walter Graham. 

In the ladies daily competition A grade winner was Rita Chase on 71 net from Deb Hassell on 74 net.

B grade winner with a super 69 net was Bobbie Ramsay from Sandy Wright on 71net. 

Bobbie also won the Brewery cup.

NTP: 3rd Faye Englefield; 8th Bobbie Ramsay; 12th Denise Morgan; 15th Julie McEwan; 17th Bobbie Ramsay.

MILDURA

THE Melbourne Cup 4BBB medley Stableford, which was won by Craig Jervies and Graeme Wilson who scored 47 points. 

Peter Briggs and George Glasheen won the countback on 45 points to finish in second place, from Ray Quirk and Alan Lay also on 45. 

Craig Tung won the nearest the pin prize on the first hole (220cm); George Glasheen on the second hole (160cm), Rhonda Young on the 10th hole (174cm) and also on the 12th hole (232cm).

The men’s monthly mug competition on last Wednesday was in two grades. 

A grade was won by Trevor Rogers who had net 69; from Cesare Fraiia on 70, and John Hardie on 71. 

Chippa Kolpin had the best net score of the day, 66, to win B grade from John Green (net 68) and David Whitelaw (net 68). 

Robert Young added to his wine collection with nearest the pin prizes on the first hole (1660cm) and second hole (482cm, which also won the pig prize). 

Phillip Nash won the NTP on the 10th hole (695cm); and Maurice Warn won the NTP on the 12th hole (174cm).

The twilight nine hole Stableford on November 6 was won by Alison Walker who scored 19 points, on countback from Ferdi Bergamin.

The mens club championships were played on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday Greg Rhodes scored net 68 off a +2 handicap to win A grade from Frank Crouch and Steve Crawford, who were on 12 and 11 handicaps respectively, and both had net 69. 

In B grade Rob Donaldson scored net 68 for a win over Phillip Green and Peter Briggs, both on net 70. 

In C grade Tony Beyen scored net 69 for a win from Terry Buckingham (net 71) and Ken Stanbrook (net 72). 

Nearest the pin prizes were won by Lee Tucker (first hole, 106 cm); Greg Rhodes (second hole, 83 cm which also won the pig prize); Paul Leonard (10th hole, 251cm); and Gary Fumberger (12th hole, 230 cm).

On Sunday George Glasheen won A grade with a net 71, from Maurice Warn and Craig Tung, both on net 72. 

Frank Morello scored 68 net to win B grade from Noel Hedwards and Michael White, both on net 70. 

Angus Baird had the best net score, 68 net, to win C grade from Don McConnell and Alan Steedman, both on net 73. 

Nearest the pin prizes were won by Robert Pallot (first hole, 11cm); Kane Cameron (second hole, 310cm); Grant Beggs ( 10th hole, 194 cm); and Andrew Keogh (12th hole, 54cm).

VETERANS

ON Monday the district vets travelled to the Riverside Golf Club to contest our championship round. 

The club had the course in top condition and with their own championship rounds conducted over the previous weekend the greens were fast and challenging. 

A field of 48 players played the stroke round to determine this year’s winners. 

The championship stoke winner was Wayne Innes with a score of 84. 

In A grade the scratch winner was France Wilmann on 84 and the handicap winner was Ken Upton on 71. 

In B grade the scratch winner was Bill Forrester on 94 and the handicap winner was Tony Dal Crobbo on 71.

Nearest the Pin winners were Ron Leamon on the fourth, John Green on the seventh, Keith Willis on the 12th and Gary Sharman on the 18th..

Ball recipients were Mark Woodhouse,Gary Sharman, John Green, Geoff Cameron, Ron Leamon, John Wass, David Lloyd, Rob Toms, Brian Young, Neville Spry, Terry Buckingham, Ned Klemm and Doug Matthews.

We welcomed Mark Woodhouse, a new member, this month.

Once again thanks was extended to this staff and members who provide us with food and drinks at the 19th hole.

Our next event will be our Christmas event to be held at Mildura on December 7. 

It will be single Stableford event.

Following our presentation the Annual General Meeting was conducted with the election on a new president Ron Leamon.
