RED CLIFFS

LAST Wednesday was medley par. 

Winning A Grade was Noel Douglass on +2 from Michael Morrall on a countback. 

In B Grade, Catherine Lanigan, on +3, was the winner from Liz Leach, who finished square. 

NTPs were: Steve Johns and Joan Ryan (eighth), Michael Hogan (12th), Catherine Lanigan (15th), Graeme Duffy (17th) and Neville Walker (18th).

Saturday’s game was medley Stableford. 

Graham Lohmeyer (39 points) won A Grade from Dylan Burnett (38). 

Kay Hart (36) was the B Grade winner from Peter Jealous (34). 

NTPs were: Mark Collett (third), Kevin Leach (fifth), Rita Chase and Ian Mitchell (eighth), Ken Woosnam (ninth), Ruth Cupper (12th), Jill Gleeson (15th) and Burnett (17th).

RIVERSIDE

THE past week has been a sizzler and so have the scores, with five players pumping out 40 points or better.

Jim Callaway started the ball rolling with a mighty 40 points to win Monday’s veteran and friends comp. Alan Connolly came in second on a fine 39. 

Tuesday’s 18 holes saw Janette Mason’s 36 points give her the win – two in front of Teresa Hagen.

Jen Stephenson had to battle a countback before her win in the nine-hole event, leaving Linda Dickson as runner-up, both on 20.

The men’s Stableford on Wednesday saw some great scoring, with A Grade winner Jeremy Goodieson completing his round on a fantastic 41 points, over Paul Wilkinson’s super 40.

B Grade was won by Mathew Wilson after a pleasing 39 from Frank Taperell (38).

There was an 18-hole and nine-hole comp played by the ladies on Thursday and Leonie Nott was elated with her game after finishing on 39 for the win. Pat Riordan was second (35).

Meg Hamence played well in the nine-hole comp with 20 points giving her a win.

Friday’s nine-hole medley Stableford saw 44 in the field and Robert Lexa came away with a win after his excellent 23 points. 

It was a three-way countback on 21 points for second and Tracey Lee came out the better with Nick Goodieson and Oscar Mannix just missing out. 

Teresa Hagen had a ripper in the ladies’ Saturday Stableford, producing the score of the week, an exceptional 44.

The heat didn’t deter the men on Saturday with 90 keen golfers hitting the fairways. 

The A Grade winner, Thomas Marr, tallied 39, with Reece Godfrey taking out second after a countback against Andrew Diwell and Shane Johnson (all on 37).

Mark Tregeagle had an outstanding game in B Grade, winning comfortably on 40 points. 

A four-way countback on 37 for runner-up saw Cooper Kalms with the best back nine, leaving Darren Woolfrey, Okotai Woetai and Neil Lawlor wondering what could have been.

Sunday was a medley Stableford and Jake Kiel continued his good form, winning on a fine 39 points. Ian Fleming was runner-up on 38, but not before a countback with Andrew Woodcock. 

MILDURA

THE Mildura ladies played single Stableford on January 5, and the Division 1 winner was Margaret McGlashan who had 37 points. Second was Mabel Crouch (35). 

Division 2 was won by Susan Walmsley (38). Glenda Hiskins (35) was second. 

NTPs were: Crouch (first, 950), Janice Japp (second, 86), Sandra Hutchinson (10th, 83) and Rhonda Young (12th, 160).

The men’s single stroke competition on Wednesday was played in three grades. 

Robert Young won A Grade with net 69. Joe Rocca had 70 for second and Jeff Giddings was third with 72. 

James Hancock won B Grade with 67, Cesare Fraia (70) was second and James Murphy (71) third. 

The hot scores were in C Grade where David Whitelaw scored 68 to win on countback from Don McConnell. Dennis Grigg (69) was third. 

The medley Stableford on January 8 was won by Crouch on countback from Elaine Henshall, both on 19 points. 

The men’s monthly medal on Saturday 9 was in three grades. John Hardie won A Grade with net 70. Maurice Warn (71) was second  and Chris Williams (72) third. 

B Grade was won by Joseph Denaro (65) ahead of Simon Kelly (67) and Bruce Hosking (68). Graham Robertson won C Grade with  71, on countback from Andrew Leske. Tony Beyen had 72 for third. 

NTPs were: Peter Hartmann (first, 221), Greg Rhodes (second, 126, which also won the pig prize), Nick Katis (10th, 303) and Ian Nimon (12th, 54).

The Mildura veteran men played their usual nine hole single Stableford on Monday. 

The winner was Geoff Cameron, who scored 39 points. Second went to Joe Rocca and Steven Fumberger was third. 

Rocca had an eagle on the seventh and Rob Toms won the nearest the pin prize on the 12th.

WENTWORTH

A NEW year begins with the cream quickly rising to the top. Ged Chapman, with 35 points, won from the vastly improving Jeff Woodroffe (33).

NTP was: Col Stewart (second, 220). Mr Risky went to John Stephens with 25 points.

Sunday’s stroke went to Glen Walker with 70. He either gets them or not. Runner-up was rising star Chapman (72) – consistency will bring you handicap down .

No nearest the pin. Mr Risky went to Garry Bourke on 78 net. 

COOMEALLA

JANUARY 6’s men’s A Grade winner was Tim Vandenberg with 39 net.  Runner-up was Greg Rhodes (37) and Larry Frasca (36) was third.

B Grade was won by David Guild (37). Runner-up: Paul Wright (35). Third: Glen Martin (35).

The C Grade winner was Aaron St Leon (39). Runner-up: Lachlan Murdoch (38) on countback from Shaun Kirkpatrick.

NTPs were: Brendon Garlett (third, 745), Terrence Duck (seventh, 272), Greg Chandler (11th, 210) and David Martin (18th, 380). 

In the ladies’ section, Valerie Cranwell-Smith (36) won on countback from Emmalee Beggs.

NTPs were: Madeline Jukes (third, 70), Ninette Mammone (seventh, 600), Maureen Bailey (11th, 0) and Sonya Golitschenko (18th, 48). 

Friday’s medley nine-hole Stableford was won by David McDonnell (19). Runner-up: Peter Duscher (19). NTP was: Michael Golitschenko (18th, 680). 

Saturday A Grade: Winner: Justin McPhee (38). Runner-up: Ray Lyons (37). Third: Ben Doherty (37). 

B Grade: Winner: David McDonnell (46). Runner-up: Anthony Harmes (41). Third: Darryl Laird (40).

C Grade: Wnner: Shaun Kirkpatrick (42). Runner-up: Lachlan Murdoch (42). Third: Ryan Russell (41). 

NTPs were: Barry Waters (third, 340), Jason Hartley (seventh, 92), Barry Waters (11th, 240) and Justin McPhee (18th, 240).

Ladies’ comp: Jukes (36) on countback from Jodene Tuau.

NTPs were: Kate Murdoch (third, 0), Nia Whittle (seventh, 243), Janice Walker (11th, 110) and Lee Bottomley (18th, 33).

Sunday’s medley Stableford winner was Tim Rix (38). Runner-up: Anthony Le Poidevin (38).

NTPs were: Jason Beard (third, 270), Bottomley (seventh, 110cm) and Tim Knight (11th, 290).
