Workers Gol Gol and Irymple to meet in Twenty20 grand finale

IRYMPLE and Workers Gol Gol will meet in Tuesday’s Sunraysia Cricket Association Twenty20 grand final after both recorded comfortable victories on Saturday.

Workers Gol Gol were led by Shacaya Thomas in a great all round display for a 10-wicket win at Alcheringa over reigning premiers Mildura Settlers.

Thomas took 3/13 from four overs in Settlers’ innings of 8/82, before batting through Workers Gol Gol’s innings with 31 off 34 to guide them home in the 19th over.

Cam Kiel was the standout performer for Settlers with 42 runs, coming off 53 balls on a day where runs were hard to come by.

The Twenty20 grand final will be at Mildura Senior College from 10am Tuesday, a repeat of last season’s White Ball Cup decider, with the same clubs also facing off in the Second Division final.

IRYMPLE CONTINUE WINNING WAYS

TOP of the table Irymple’s 32-run win over Mildura East at Henshilwood Oval marked a 11th win in a row for the Swallows.

Since round one the Swallows have won every game played, with two rounds lost to the weather.

It was an even top-order performance with the bat for the Swallows on Saturday, with Bryson Lush (31 off 24), Dan Coghlan (29 off 25) and Jarrad Armsden (23 off 23) doing the bulk of the damage as the only Irymple players into double figures for their side’s 7/119.

Muki Sharma took 3/5 for East.

In response East were rarely in the hunt, with Tom Vadlja opening and remaining unbeaten with 43 off 54.

Captain-coach Josh berry made 24 off 32 but they were the only East players to pass five runs, with the visitors finishing 8/87 from 20 overs.

Coghlan took 5/13 for Irymple.

WEST KEEP FINALS HOPES ALIVE

MILDURA West registered a five-wicket win over winless Merbein South to keep touch with the top four.

Sending the Saints in to bat, West bowled the visitors to John Hall Oval out for just 89 with skipper Luke Hickey and veteran Shane Driscoll taking two scalps each.

Merbein South skipper Hamim Miah made 29 off 34 to lead his side while youngster Dillon Furze made 16 off 26.

In response the returning Chris Williams top scored for West with 40 from 39 as West passed the required total in the 16th over.

Anthony Cavallaro took 2/18 for Merbein South.
