A VISITING Melbourne skiier stole the show at the weekend’s Mildura Ski Club Four Round Slalom at the weekend.
Under 17 girls competitor Stephanie Cosgriff smashed her own personal best mark club’s second event of the year at its Cowra Station tournament ski site by a massive six and a half buoys, surprising herself and ski club tournament division representative Nigel Sparrow.
“I get excited about a half buoy PB,” Sparrow said.
“She was pretty happy with that … she would have been the big standout from the weekend.
“Mike Gilman skiied pretty well too (in the over 45 men), that’s some of his best results for quite some time.”
Sparrow was pleased with how the tournament unfolded.
With tournament skiing so beholden to weather conditions at the site, there was plenty of relief Friday’s rain didn’t push on into the weekend.
“The rain on Friday was a little bit of a worry but that all cleared up,” Sparrow said.
“Conditions were actually pretty good mostly, the wind did gust up at times but people did put up some decent scores.
Some club members will travel to Mulwala this weekend and then spend the weekend after at Lake Moodemere with those two tournaments leading into the prestigious Moomba Masters in Melbourne.
