Sunraysia Cricket Association: Round 16 Snapshot

Irymple v Coomealla Wentworth
Henshilwood Oval

COOMEALLA Wentworth’s top-four spot is on the line today.

West are snapping at their heels – just five points back – and with winless Merbein South in their sights. If Coomealla Wentworth lose to their top-placed hosts,  West could take full advantage and sit inside the four at the end of the day.

The Blues are coming off a loss to Workers Gol Gol last weekend and while they weren’t disgraced, there will need to be some things addressed against a talented Irymple bowling line-up.

The pace of their innings last weekend was a concern, being 1/26 after 10 overs and having only 55 runs on the board halfway through their innings.

Although they had plenty of wickets in hand, that scoring rate had them well behind the eight ball.

And it doesn’t get easier against the class of Irymple’s bowling attack.

Minus co-captain Dan Coghlan today but with former captain Jordan Payne recalled, Irymple have plenty of options with the ball and on a slower deck at Henshilwood will be tough to score against.

Merbein South v Mildura West
Chaffey Park

A TOP-four spot is also up for grabs for Mildura West against struggling Merbein South today.

West sit on 75 points, half a game behind fourth-placed Coomealla Wentworth.

If  Coomealla Wentworth fail to get the points against away to top side Irymple, West would leap-frog them with a win.

West are fresh off a week’s rest, having had their match with Irymple last weekend abandoned due to ground conditions.

Merbein South are coming off a loss to Nichols Point last weekend, with Mark White making way for Ilario Cavallo.

Mildura East v Workers Gol Gol
Brian Weightman Oval

MILDURA East welcome back key components Tom Vadlja and Muki Sharma for their big task against Workers Gol Gol.

The experienced pair were missing from a side that was belted to all parts by Jason Morrison and Settlers last weekend and provide valuable skill and experience.

Aaron Cordell displayed promise with a half century, showing East do have the players to work with given time.

Workers Gol Gol come into today in second place and looking in good shape for the finals, having accounted for then-third placed Coomealla Wentworth last Saturday before being pipped in the

Twenty20 grand final by Irymple on Sunday.
