A NEW tradition will begin on Easter Saturday at the Garden of Hope.
Almost 1000 Easter eggs are expected to be hidden around the gardens for a big Easter egg hunt open to the public.
Garden of Hope director Debbie Halliwell has fond memories of a similar tradition she had each year as a child and wanted to share that joy and excitement with the community.
“I just love bringing joy to other people and as a child the Easter egg hunt we did always brought us joy,” she said.
“My mum would create a Easter egg hunt where we would be given 10 to 15 clues that would all lead to Easter eggs.
“I loved it, and while it is a bit tricky to do that, I wanted to do something similar.”
The hunt will be broken into age brackets to ensure everyone has the opportunity to find eggs.
“I would love to see it become a tradition that we host every year,” Ms Halliwell said.
“I am very excited about it, we will see how we go and hope to make it bigger and better next year.”
Ms Halliwell said the Easter egg hunt is just a small part of fun to be had on the day with breakfast available along with a range of games and activities suited to the whole family.
One group already looking forward to the day is Sunraysia Residential Services (SRS).
“We are always looking for somewhere to take our clients and Garden of Hope has provided the perfect location for 30 of our clients to spend Easter,” SRS active service leader Sandra Hutchinson said.
“They are all very excited, particularly about having an Easter egg hunt.
“It’s an opportunity to get them out of the house and gets them interacting with people, which they absolutely love to do.”
Registration and breakfast will start at 9am, games and activities will begin at 10am and the Easter egg hunt will be at 11am.
Entry is $10 for a family, $2 per child and $3 for adults.
Garden of Hope is at 158 Seventeenth Street, Cabarita.
