Colours, Knights ready to light up S-League

SATURDAY night lights await Three Colours and Irymple Knights in round 2 of the S-League season.

The region’s two most successful clubs, despite coming off first-round losses, should bring a crowd to Pitch 10 at Soccer Park tonight at 7pm.

Mildura City and Nichols Point will meet tomorrow in a battle of the round 1 victors.

Defending champions Colours started their season with a 1-0 loss at the hands of Nichols Point. A 30th-minute strike from Jordan Cox was all the Pointers needed to get across the line.

Early title favourites Mildura City got off to the best possible start with a 3-1 over Irymple at Kenny Park.

Serial scorer Brandon Pollifrone struck twice within 15 minutes in the first half to give the Cityzens a 2-0 half-time lead, and when Lukas Pedder added another two minutes into the second half, that was all she wrote.

Luca Capizzuto immediately added a goal to gets Knights off the mark, but the scoreboard would remain the same for the rest of the match.

City and Knights played out a thriller in the senior women’s grade, with Irymple coming back from a 3-1 half-time deficit to end the match 3-all.

A brace for Tessa Hendy helped lead Nichols Point to a 5-0 win over Northern Suns, with Isabella Inglis, Harmen Grewal and Nicole Batchelor also finding the back of the net.

In senior women’s games this week, Three Colours have their first match of the season against the Suns, while Nichols Point and Irymple Knights face off as City have the bye.
