FOOTY FIX – Swallows soar, Magpies march on

IRYMPLE put on a strong performance for stalwart Nathan Hamence in his 250th game, with a mammoth 93-point win over Robinvale Euston at Henshilwood Park.

Jason Eagle and Nick Pezzaniti each booted five goals for the victors, while Mitch Roads chipped in with four of his own in the 20.26 (136) to 5.13 (43) demolition job.

Outside the aforementioned trio, Paddy Power and Nando Cirillo were among the Swallows best players, while Colby Mannix and Jess Stevens tried hard in a tough day at the office for the Eagles.

Merbein have continued their unbeaten run to start 2021, overcoming a slow start against Wentworth to run out 47-point winners, 13.11 (89) to 6.6 (42).

With four electric goals from Josh Carmichael and three from Anthony Coluccio, including a goal of the year contender, the Magpies out-hustled the home side to maintain their outstanding start to the season.

Now injury free, former coach Jarrod Buckley was immense across the half back line, while new co-coach Daniel Tung and recruits Vinnie Rodi and Vinnie Tassone were superb.

Jack and Nick Cottrell were Wentworth’s best going against the run of play, while Cambell Davison and Cleve Westley also put in decent performances.

South Mildura have also continued their dominant start to the season with a fourth consecutive win, this time against Ouyen United, 21.12 (138) to 8.10 (58).

Matthew Min booted five goals and Matt Spencley four as the Dogs romped home, putting the Kangas’ finals ambitions in real doubt after a 0-4 start to 2021.

Imperials continue to look the goods after a 71-point win over Mildura, 22.10 (142) to 11.5 (71).

In the first battle between co-tenants since the renaming of Brian Weightman Oval, it was the Green Machine who remained undefeated to start the season.
