WEIGHTS or cardio, what’s best for you?
Let’s break this down. Both have different benefits to your health.
So, if you’re worried about where to start or which one is better than the other, I will give you a few points on each today and next week to give you a clearer picture as to why both are important.
This week, let’s start with weights. Here are seven reasons why you should be doing weights:
1. Increase your strength and endurance
2. Increase bone density
3. Decrease risk of an injury
4. Can help improve sleep
5. Reduce back pain
6. Improve posture
7. It’s just all round bloody good for you
However, there can be concerns around lifting weights. Here’s a few we often hear which I just want to clarify.
“If I lift heavy, I will get bulky”
Have you heard or been told this? It’s just not true.
There has definitely been a big shift and probably one of the positive things to come out of social media with a lot of females showing how much weight they lift and are simply better off for it.
“Worried about hurting yourself or getting injured”
As I stated above, it is actually the opposite; with the right technique and working towards what you’re able to lift to begin with.
If you’re a complete beginner I would definitely recommend you find a trainer to help you, watch and look over your form with the basic movements.
Hope this clears a few points up and gives you confidence to lift more weights.
