Barber Sam aims to cut it at the Workers

THE “iconic” barber shop at the entrance of Mildura Working Man’s Club has reopened.

With a wealth of knowledge and experience behind him, Sam Marabito opened Sam’s Barber Shop on Monday.

“It was time for a change and I saw the that the location was available, so inquired as I thought it would be a fantastic opportunity,” Mr Marabito said.

“It’s an iconic location with a barber shop having previously been there for years but closed down, I believe, due to COVID.

“It’s a great location, people can come in for a haircut and afterward they can go and enjoy a beer.”

Mr Marabito has built a name for himself around Sunraysia, having been in the industry for more than 40 years and owning a salon for 26.

“I started as a hairdresser at 14 and worked as one for 20 years before becoming a barber when I was looking to do something different,” he said.

“I just love it, I love meeting new people and hearing their stories.

“People really confine in you. I am surprised by what I do hear.”

Since opening the doors to the public, Mr Marabito has been busy with all walk-ins welcome and no appointments necessary.

Sam’s Barber Shop is open 9.30am-5.30pm Tuesday to Friday and 9.30am-3pm on Saturday.
