Second Mildura COVID-19 case listed

A SECOND COVID-19 case was listed in the Mildura Rural City Council area on Monday morning, taking the LGA’s total active cases to two, as Premier Daniel Andrews announced the statewide lockdown would be extended beyond Tuesday night.

The new case is a household contact of the Mildura man in his 30s who returned a positive test for the virus over the weekend and is linked to a chain of transmission from the MCG.

The positive case was recorded in the Victorian Department of Health’s numbers.

It is the eighth case recorded in Mildura since the beginning of the pandemic. Victoria recorded 13 new cases on Monday, plus another four cases which were reported after midnight will be added to Tuesday’s tally.

Meanwhile, testing queues in Mildura gridlocked the city, as testers struggled to meet demand.

A number of exposure sites in Mildura have been listed on the Department of Health and Human Services website.
