VETERANS

AT the time of writing this report there was some confusion as everyone was eagerly awaiting an announcement from the state government about the possible changing of COVID restrictions.

With New South Wales in a difficult situation, that state might not be in a position to lift their restrictions as quickly and so details about travel between Mildura and Coomealla will need to be clarified.

The permissible size of outdoor groupings will also need to be considered. Our problem is that we don’t know so we will communicate with club representatives as soon as the information is available.

All being well, we will travel to Coomealla for next Monday’s Championship stroke round. That means registration starts at 8.30am with a captain’s address at 9am in readiness for a 9.30am shotgun start. Those who have played at least twice this year will be eligible to compete to be our 2021 Champion (best scratch score). We also have A and B scratch and handicap competitions along with our usual NTPs.

So bring your best game. Cart hire is available. The cost will be $20 as it is expected that we will be able to enjoy a lunch after our game.

We have a contingency plan should the need arise. The Coomealla Golf Club have agreed that we can postpone the event for another week. With fingers crossed it will go ahead as planned.

Stay tuned. I hope to see you there.

WENTWORTH

THURSDAY’S Stableford was played in very cold and wet conditions but the warmest person on the course was Bill Slee with yet another under-handicap score of 34.

Runner-up again went to Annette Green (32).

NTP was Green with a great shot – 145 on the second. Mr Risky went to Garry Burke (21).

Sunday’s stroke on another cold day was won by Bill Murray (69). Runner-up was one out of the blue, Ally Thompson (70).

NTP was Michael Cook (second, 515). Mr Risky went to Glen Walker (91).

Look after the carts, that’s all we have.
