THE Mildura local government area recorded nine new COVID-19 cases on Monday and the local lockdown is under review.
Victorian COVID response commander Jeroen Weimar said the latest number was “nine too many” but an encouraging drop.
The LGA recorded 12 new cases on Sunday and 16 on Saturday.
As Sunraysia residents wonder if the local lockdown, scheduled to last until Friday, will end in line with a statewide easing of restrictions on Thursday night, Mr Weimar said the situation was “constantly under review”.
Victoria reported a total of 1903 new locally acquired cases and seven deaths overnight. The state has 22,327 active cases and 152 people have died in the latest outbreak.
Almost 70,000 tests were carried out across the state on Sunday and 32,405 vaccine doses were administered.
From 11.59pm on Thursday, all Melbourne restrictions for leaving home will end, as will the city’s nightly curfew. The city lockdown will end five days earlier than planned, in line with the state reaching its 70 per cent double-dose vaccination target.
Restrictions are set to ease further when 80 per cent of the eligible population has received both vaccine doses, which is expected to happen around the end of the month.
