WENTWORTH

THURSDAY’S Stableford event returned no jackpot with only John Stephens getting close and his 33 points was good enough to take the prize.

Runner-up was Bill Slee with 31 points on a countback from ball-winner Glen Walker.

NTP was Glen Walker on the second with 1400cm.

Mr Risky went to Wayne Astbury with 14 points.

Sunday’s stroke event went to Gary Clark on a countback from Glen Walker both with 70 net.

Ball winners were Howard Hankinson on 74 net and Bill Murray on 75 net.

NTP again went to Glen Walker with 200cm on the second.

Mr Risky went to Peter Trevathan with 91 net.

COOMEALLA

IN Wednesday’s men’s Stableford competition, the A grade winner was Ross Robertson on 38 points, runner-up was Glenn Marr on 37 points and third was Jai Hudson on 36 points.

In B grade the runaway winner was Pat Murphy on 46 points from runner-up Col Pulham on 40 points with Paul Modica third on 39 points.

C grade winner was Michael Littore on 42 points from runner-up Glen Martin on 39 points and Wilkie Hudson third on 39 points.

Balls (19) went from 35 to 46 points,

NTPs: 3rd – Alister McBain 170cm; 7th – Greg Butcher 289cm; 11th – Toby Cardew 210cm; 8th – Andrew Rix 390cm.

Wednesday’s women’s Stableford was won by Maureen Bailey on 41 points from runner-up Julie Morgan on 37 points with Ninette Mammone third on 36 points.

Balls (five) went from 35 to 41 points.

NTPs: 3rd – Heidi Schultz 25cm; 7th –Sandra Hunt 443cm; 11th – Sally McOrist 102cm; 18th – Heidi Schultz 0cm.

On Friday there was a medley nine-hole Stableford with the winner Janice Walker on 21 points from runner-up Jayden Brooks on 21 points.

Balls (11) went from 18 to 21 points.

NTPs: 11th – Greg Rhodes 395cm; 18th – Greg Rhodes 620cm.

On Saturday the men played Stableford.

The A grade winner was Steven Farley on 39 points with runner-up Phil Matotek on 37 points and Justin Clay third on 37 points.

In B grade the winner was Darryl Laird on 38 points with runner-up Wayne Hatcher on 37 points and Thorell Lees third on 37 points.

The C grade winner was Keven Aston on 38 points with runner-up Ken Forster on 37 points and third was Frank Geyer on 37 points.

Balls (37) went from 34 to 39 points.

NTPs: 3rd – Vince Dichiera 98cm; 7th – Jacob Slimmon 82cm; 11th – Alan Scorer 437cm; 18th – Phil Matotek 171cm.

The women played Stableford on Saturday with the winner Jodene Tuau on a sensational 43 points from runner-up Sue Laird on 37 points and third was Nia Whittle on 36 points.

Balls (four) went from 36 to 43 points.

NTPs: 3rd – Lee Bottomley 85cm; 7th – Salli Fox 174cm; 11th – Janice Walker 80cm; 18th – Robyn Rohrlach 0cm.

Sunday was a medley Stableford with Tim Earl the winner on 39 points from runner-up Dean Vance, third placegetter Jayden Brooks and Michele Philp fourth, all on 38 points.

Balls (16) went from 35 to 39 points.

NTPs: 3rd – Michele Philp 202cm; 7th – Greg Rhodes 113cm; 11th – Larry Finnis 498cm; 18th – Greg Rhodes 351cm.

Today the men and women will play Stableford. Friday is the President’s Port 12-hole medley Stableford event and the men and women will play stroke on Saturday. Sunday’s play will be medley Stableford.

MERBEIN

THE winner last Wednesday was Graham Kerr on square with Greg Marshall runner-up on -2. Roger Walder (-3) won a ball.

NTP: 3rd – F. Crouch 530cm.

Peter Gourlay was the winner with 39 points on Saturday ahead of Aaron (Fudge) Finch. Balls went to Matty Dean (37 points) and Gav Hocking (36).

NTPs: 2nd – R. Walder 220cm; 3rd – J. Bell 210cm; 6th – M. Dean 116cm; 12th – G. Kerr 208cm; 14th – C. Hocking 51cm; 16th – J. Bell 698cm.

Coming up today is Stableford and Saturday’s play will be par.

Thank you to all the volunteers for the recent irrigation working bee fixing all the sprinklers, realigning, etc. It was a fantastic result and already a huge difference can be seen throughout the course.

Again, special mention to Steve, Kerry and Greg for their tireless work before and on the day.

RIVERSIDE

IT was hard to wipe the smile off Les Ball’s face on Saturday, when he landed the ultimate shot, a hole in one, on the par- three fourth hole. Congratulations Les, a golfing memory to treasure.

Last Monday saw Craig Jervis finishing on 39 points in the Veterans’ and Friends comp, to leave with a win. It was a three-way countback for runner up on 37, with Ken Upton coming out the better, followed by Paul Reed and Alec Cattanach.

NTPs: 7th – Tim Earl 113cm; 18th – Paul Reed 135cm.

The nine-hole comp for the ladies on Tuesday was a par event and Jill Shalders had a lovely round of +4 to enjoy a win.

The only NTP of the day, was on the 18th, by Liz Wallace (150cm).

Adel Dal Corobbo took out the 18-hole par round after coming in square.

NTPs: 4th – Roylene Bailey 600cm; 12th – Janette Mason 400cm.

On Wednesday the men also played par in two grades.

Jason Marks smashed out a super score of +5 in A grade to have a convincing win over Gary Shaman on +2. It was square for Rob Arnold for his win in B grade, in front of Alec Cattanach (-2) on a countback from Andrew Forbes.

NTPs: 7th – Tim Earl 592cm; 12th – Lucas Bryon 95cm; 18th – Kevin Eastwood 314cm.

The ladies’ Stableford on Thursday went the way of Wendy Dawson, putting her 34 points to good use. Fiona Turlan came in second on 32.

NTPs: 4th – Lyn Saunders 620cm; 12th – Fiona Turlan 20cm; 18th – Jan Hiscock 27cm.

Friday’s medley nine-hole Stableford was a winner for Damen Southgate, who scored 20 points, from a group of four players on 19. Bodan Bishop was the lucky one in front of Jake Smith, Barry Pilgram and Travis White.

Saturday was a stroke round for the ladies and Maree Irvin (101/73) won a countback against Lorraine Palmer (92/73).

NTPs: 4th – Dora Stewart 400cm; 12th and 18th – Lorraine Palmer (440cm and 10cm).

It was a Monthly Medal round for the men on Saturday in three grades.

Barry Pilgram (81/72) picked up the win in A grade over Oscar Mannix (82/74) on a countback from Alan McMaster.

In B grade, a mighty 68 net from Aaron Jeffery, after his 80 off the stick, gave him a nice win. Tim Earl (86/71) came out the better in a countback with Gavin Graham (87/71) for second.

Brett Hill, of Ouyen, put together a 102/73 and grabbed the C grade win in front of Alec Cattanach (93/74).

NTPs: 4th – Les Ball (hole in one); 7th – Jerry Stephens 500cm; 12th – Oscar Mannix 380cm; 18th – Graeme Irvin 184cm.

Sunday’s medley Stableford was a pleasing day for Frank Taperell with 35 points for the win, from runner up Andrew Diwell (32) after a countback against Andrew Thomas.

NTPs: 4th and 12th – Andrew Thomas (110cm and 225cm); 7th – Chris Curley 810cm; 18th – Michael Holcroft 360cm.

MILDURA

LAST Tuesday the ladies’ 18-hole Stableford competition was won by Mabel Crouch with 38 points, closely followed by Helen Treacy (37), while the nine-hole event on the day won by Sue Walmsley (20).

Wednesday was a Stableford round for the men and the A grade winner with 39 points was Rob Pallot, ahead of Geoff Hazeldene (38) and Sam Smythe (36).

The winner of the Tasco fuel prize in B grade was Joel Morrison on 41 points, with Phil Nash (38) second and Les Williams (38) third, and in C grade the countback on 39 resulted in a win for Paul McErvale over runner-up Robin Hubble, with Ferdi Bergman coming in third on 38.

NTPs: 1st – Ross Bowen 240cm; 2nd – Chippa Kolpin 207cm; 10th – Peter Rhodes 90cm; 12th – Trevor Spanos 2cm. Maurice Warn won the pig pin prize and Peter Rhodes won the TWW eagle’s nest prize on the par-four eighth.

Mabel Crouch won the ladies’ 18-hole event on Friday with 36 Stableford points ahead of Bev Mathews (also 36), while the winner of the weekly twilight nine was Val Whitelaw (20) ahead of Meredith Turner (19).

Saturday was a 4BBB medley Stableford round and the winners on 47 points were Gavan Tellefson and Ken Byrne. Second was the team of Cesare Fraiia and Terry O’Brien (46), with third spot going to Trevor Spanos and Robert Shipsides (45).

NTPs: 1st – Robert Young 189cm; 2nd – Gavin Harrington 191cm; 10th – Jeff Giddings 153cm; 12th – Terry O’Brien 440cm. The ball rundown went to a countback on 42 points.

Sunday’s medley winner was Helen Treacy with 36 Stableford points.

This week’s veterans’ Stableford event was again won by the ever-consistent John Williams with 38 points from Alan Steedman (36) and Doug Mathews (34).

Today’s play is Ambrose fours with a full field. On Friday there will be a ladies’ 18-hole and twilight nine, on Saturday and Sunday are medley Stableford competitions, veterans’ day on Monday and the ladies have 18 and nine-hole events available on Tuesday.
