Red Cliffs Cricket Association round 12 preview

Nursery Ridge v Robinvale Euston

THE tastiest clash of the RCCA A Grade this week is at the Onion Patch at Quandong Park with top of the table Nursery Ridge hosting Robinvale Euston.

The Rangers were on the end of a perhaps surprising loss to last season’s grand finalists Tempy, who had won just one game prior to that result.

Travis Shawcross led the way with the ball taking 4/42 and while they couldn’t chase down the target of 149, Ethan Gill impressed with 49, as did Aaron Zappia with an unbeaten 28.

Shannon Bowen boosted his batting average with an unbeaten 44, alongside Evan Lampard’s 28 not out in an easy chase of 75 runs without loss.

Jason Finch continued his impressive form with the ball, taking 3/8 while the evergreen ‘Yella’ Brown chipped in with 3/16.

The last time they met in December, the Rangers gave Ridge their first loss of the season, really putting this contest up for grabs.

Tempy v Millewa

AS stated above, Tempy threw down the gauntlet to the competition after recording a 32-run win over Robinvale Euston last week.

With just four rounds remaining before finals, the Tigers will be hoping to get on a roll, starting with Millewa today.

The Bullants currently occupy fourth place on the ladder, however just five points separates the two sides, with Cardross only a further five points behind.

Ben Mole led the way with the bat for Tempy with 46 with Nic Monaghan (27 not out) and Tate Hulland (25) also adding handy runs. Heath Smith’s 4/25 was also important.

David Scammell scored 26 for the Bullants in a tough day at the office last week against Ouyen.

Cardross v Ouyen Rams

CARDROSS need to get a couple of wins under the belt if they want to make the finals this season.

That task will be made tougher coming up against an Ouyen side who are still within touching distance of returning to the top of the ladder.

The Rams will visit the Lions’ den following a strong nine-wicket victory over Millewa, while the home side suffered a 10-wicket loss at the hands of Nursery Ridge.

Alex Morrish and Daniel Pryse each claimed three wickets last week, while Conor Schultz (41 not out) and Pryse (25 not out) guided the run chase home.

Noah Lanigan continues to lead the asssociation wicket-taking for Cardross with 24, while Seth Lanigan and Jeremy Aworth can be solid run scorers.
