RED CLIFFS

LAST Wednesday’s medley Par A Grade winner was Mal Goodieson on -1 from Gary Nunn on -2. In B Grade, Lou Young (+2) was the winner from Julianne Wood (-1) and the C Grade winner was Ruth Cupper (square) ahead of Murray Nulty (-3).

NTPs: 8th – Steve Johns and Julianne Wood; 15th – Tamara Johns; 17th – Dorothy Knight; 18th – Glen Riordan.

Saturday’s medley Stableford saw Paul Dominelli with the score of the day (41 points) take out A Grade from Lloyd Hale on 37 points. The B Grade winner was Chris Chase on 38 points from Jason Plant on 37, while in C Grade Don Fiorillo (37) was the winner from Marion Pengelly (33).

NTPs: 8th – Jill Gleeson and Ken Evans; 9th – Daryl Morgan; 12th – Margaret Stanbrook and Mark Collett; 15th – Sheryl Blagus; 17th – Catherine Lanigan.

Coming up this week, today is a medley Stableford with the men playing off the white markers, while Saturday’s game is also medley Stableford.

MERBEIN

WINNER on February 2 was Graeme Kelly with 31 points, with runner up being Ken Matulic also on 31. Michael Cook won a ball.

NTP: 3rd – G. Kelly 1120cm.

Monthly Medal on February 5 was won by Ethan (Earl) Gray with a cracking score of 65 net, ahead of Alan Gourlay on 69 net on countback.

Fox Mulder won a ball.

NTPs: 3rd – Mick Thomson 146cm (“Pigeon” $40); 8th – Peter Gourlay 128cm; 12th – Peter McGaffin 310cm; 16th – John Bell 116cm.

Meat raffle was won by Ken “back to back” Matulic.

Coming up today is Par and Saturday is Stableford.

This Sunday is our first “regular” working bee, starting at 9am and finishing at midday, followed by barbecue and refreshments for all in attendance. This will be ongoing for the year.

We will be concentrating on spraying Burkes Burr or “Khaki Weed” so please bring a sprayer of some sort to assist.

Fairways are being slashed as our mower is still under repair so please be patient with this.

WENTWORTH

THURSDAY’S Stableford went down to wire with Bill Murray and John Stephens returning 34 points each. Bill took the honours and claimed he is the better golfer on countback.

Ball winner was Howard Hankinson on 31 points.

NTP: 2nd – Glen Walker 950cm.

Mr Risky went to the ever improving Wayne Astbury with 16 pts.

Sundays stroke round was another close finish with John Stephens (who’s the better golfer) on 73 net. Runner up was Paul Buttigieg with 75 net.

Ball winner was Col Stewart on 77.

NTPs 2nd – Bill Slee 275cm.

Mr Risky went to Gary Clark on 84 net.

COOMEALLA

GEOFF Sayers took out last Wednesday’s men’s A Grade event with 38 points on countback from Adam Philp and Garth Doherty.

In B Grade Neil Saunders came out on top with 43 points ahead of Aaron Duck and Paul Wright (both 37), while Dave Eddie finished ahead of Glen Martin and Greg Lee in a countback on 40 points to win C Grade.

Balls went to scored from 43 to 45.

NTPs: 3rd Zilzie Wines – Phil Maw 529cm; 7th McGuigan Wines – Garth Doherty 71cm; 11th Walkers IGA – Ivan McKenzie 415cm; 18th Trentham Estate – Jeff Giddings 116cm.

Jackie Horkings won Wednesday’s women’s competition with 36 points from Robyn Hand on 35. Balls went to scores from 36 to 33.

NTPs: 3rd Zilzie Wines – Cath Eddie 62cm; 7th Terry White Chemist – Maria Rogers 920cm; 11th Buronga Bake – Adel Dal Corobbo 255cm; 18th Trentham Estate – Lee Bottomley 0cm.

Friday’s medley nine-hole Stableford was won by Walter Schulz ahead of Larry Frasca, both on 20 points. Balls went to scores from 20 points to 17.

NTP: 18th – Walter Schulz 845cm.

Saturday’s men’s A Grade winner was Justin McPhee on 68 net, ahead of Kane Brown and Vince Dichiera, both on 70 net.

David Lewin won B Grade on countback from Tim Knight on 71 net with David Guild (72 net) just behind, while C Grade top three were the same scores, with Serfet Kuzu leading home Gary Thomas and Michael Coghlan.

Balls went to scores from 68 to 73.

NTPs: 3rd Zilzie Wine – Tim Knight 74cm; 7th McGuigan Wines – Justin McPhee 151cm; 11th Walkers IGA – Matthew Pascoe 175cm; 18th Trentham Estate – Mark Woodhouse 50cm.

Brenda Thomas won the women’s comp on 65 net ahead of Janet Fumberger on 72 net. Balls went to scores from 65 to 76.

NTPs: 3rd Zilzie Wine – Lee Bottomley 15cm; 7th McGuigan Wines – Janice Walker 363cm; 11th Buronga Bake – Janice Walker 165cm.

Sunday’s medley Stableford was won by Jordan McKinnon from Nicholas Cottrell, both on 40 points, followed by Brett Willis and Damien Evans both on 39.

Balls went to scores from 40 to 35.

NTPs: 7th – Brett Willis 185cm; 11th – Greg Philp 200cm.

Today is a men’s medley two-ball Ambrose on the Par 3 course, Friday is medley nine-hole Stableford, men’s and womens Stableford on Saturday and medley Stableford on Sunday.

MILDURA

LAST Tuesday the ladies’ 18-hole competition was won Sue Burgess with 37 points ahead of Carla Sherriff (36), while the nine-hole event won by Kay Baker on a countback from Sue Walmsley on 18 points.

Steven Fumberger won men’a A Grade Stroke on Wednesday with net 69 followed by Rob Toms and Gary Fumberger (both 70), and in B Grade John Green won the monthly mug on net 73 over

Rod Truman (74) and Steve Peters (75).

NTPs: 1st – Les Williams 320cm; 2nd – Robin Hubble 81cm; 10th – Ferdi Bergamin 223cm; 12th – Paul Wilton 84cm.

The ladies Friday competition was won by Mabel Crouch with 34 Stableford points and Ruth Rodi came in a close second (33), while the nine-hole twilight event won by Tony Beyen (21 points) from Josh Mcaskill (20).

Saturday was medal day in three grades and enjoying the win in A Grade was Maurice Warn, returning a net 68, followed by Michael Osborne (70) and George Poriazis (71).

Noel Hedwards’ score of net 69 gained him a narrow victory in B Grade over Nick Katis (70) and Grant Beggs (71), while in C Grade the monthly medal was awarded to Peter Dooley with the top score for the day (net 67), closely followed by Ferdi Bergamin (69) and Fred Stewart (70).

NTPs: 1st – Nigel Ingram 106cm; 2nd – Rick Foster (pig pin prize) 272cm; 10th – Daniel Tung 325cm; 12th – Ross Bowen 122cm.

This week’s veterans winner was Keith Williams on 36 Stableford points ahead of Denis Clarke (35) and Jeff Giddings (33). The Duxton Wine prize went to George Poriazis for NTP on the 12th (325cm).

Today’s event is a combined Stableford, Friday a ladies 18-hole and the nine-hole twilight event, Saturday medley Stableford, Sunday medley, veterans on Monday and the ladies have nine-hole and 18-hole competitions on Tuesday.

RIVERSIDE

OUR weather has been magnificent over the past week, but we might be heading for a few hotties pretty soon.

The last Monday in January saw Ken Upton winning the Veteran and Friends Comp on a very fine 38 points, in front of Mark Woodhouse with 37.

The ladies nine-hole Stableford on Tuesday put Jill Shalders on top, finishing on 16 points.

NTP: 12th – Julie Holland 550cm.

Lorraine Palmer grabbed the 18-hole event on 34 points.

NTPs: 4th – Lorraine Palmer 930cm; 18th – Adel Dal Corobbo 200cm.

Wednesday’s Monthly Medal for the men was played in two grades but the overall winner on a countback, John Fraser, collected the award with an excellent 90/72.

Malcolm Kalms took out the A Grade section with a round of 86/72 on a countback from David Lloyd (87/72). Both great scores.

Another 72 net in B Grade, with Ken Upton snatching his second win for the week, after 91 off the stick. Tom Wilkinson’s 94/74 gave him second place.

NTPs: 4th – Kevin Challis 7cm; 7th – Brian Young 345cm; 12th – Graham Sievewright 310cm; 17th – Brian Young 1250cm; 18th – France Wilmann 440cm.

Maeve Fraser wasn’t going to be outdone after husband John collected his win, arriving home with her own win after a 37 net in the ladies’ nine-hole Stroke on Thursday.

The second player to pocket a couple of wins for the week was Lorraine Palmer, completing a nice round of 95/76 on a countback over Dora Stewart (96/76).

NTPs: 4th – Heather Klemm (295cm); 7th – Lisa Garioch 1050cm; 12th – Chitra Rankin 105cm; 18th – Cath Eddie 85cm.

The nine-hole medley Stableford on Friday saw Korey Loechel just sneaking home for the win after a countback against David Woolcock, both on a nice 21 points.

Saturday was a Stableford for the ladies which also came down to a countback. Lorraine Palmer tried to make it a run of three, but Wendy Dawson just pipped her at the winning post when both ended on 36 points.

NTPs: 4th – Wendy Dawson 340cm; 12th – Roz Nash 170cm; 18th – Lyn Saunders 75cm.

The men’s Stableford brought in the best scores for the week, with three players smashing out 41pts.

Andrew Graham (41) scooped up the A Grade win, from Rob Garioch on a fine 39 points. A countback was required in B Grade, with Kevin McGiluary winning over Clinton Barry, both with that magical 41 points.

NTPs: 4th – Chris O’Brien 175cm; 7th – Rob Garioch 175cm; 12th – Grant Giddings 470cm; 17th – Gary Sharman 385cm; 18th – Dominic Glenister 220cm.

The last competition for the week saw Nicholas George complete a lovely round of 39 points for the win from Gavin Minter (37).

NTPs: 4th – Andrew Thomas 364cm; 7th – Nicholas George 132cm; 12th – Tim Earl 191cm; 18th – Reece Farr 369cm.

Riverside’s Summer Open will be conducted this weekend and although the 36 hole comp is the main event, there will also be a daily comp on each day. Please ring the club to enter.
