VETERANS

THERE is little more than two weeks until the first district veteran golfers’ round at Mildura Golf Resort on Monday, March 17. It will be a 4BBB Stableford event. Members requiring a cart should ring the pro shop to book one.

New members are invited to join our association. Why join? District members benefit by being able to participate in 10 rounds conducted on all the district courses.

Being a member of the district group means automatic membership of the statewide Victorian Veteran Golfers Association. Information about statewide events and district associations can be found on their website as well as news updates, meeting minutes and general information. The site vvga.org.au replaces the annual booklet.

To be eligible to join players need to be 50 years or older, be double (or triple) vaccinated and enjoy playing golf.

Current members will receive their new badges this round. This has been introduced to make it easier to identify and communicate with others and there will also be a memento reminding players that they belong to our special group.

It is an expectation that players will wear their badges before a round and afterwards during presentations. As an incentive there will be a members’ draw each month. A number corresponding to registration order will be drawn and if the player is wearing their badge he or she will win a golf ball. If not there will be a jackpot for next month.

Hope to see everyone there.
