COVID vaccinations have become more convenient for some Sunraysia residents, with the first day of pop-up clinics at Bunnings.
It came as the Mildura LGA recorded 101 new COVID cases on Wednesday, taking the number of active cases in the region to 584.
The Fifteenth Street vaccination site opened on Wednesday, with some also taking the chance to browse the local hardware store.
Mildura was among five locations added to a list of walk-in vaccination clinics at Bunnings carparks across Victoria.
Minister for Health Martin Foley said the initiative aimed to increase access to the vaccine in key Local Government Areas.
“We’re delighted that this fantastic partnership with Bunnings is providing Victorians with yet another way to get their COVID vaccination,” Mr Foley said.
“These pop-ups will focus particularly on areas with fewer points of GP and pharmacy access and provide an easy and convenient way to get a jab while doing some shopping.
“The vaccine not only saves lives, it significantly reduces your chance of getting COVID-19, passing it onto others, or going to hospital.”
He said in the coming weeks Victoria’s health services would be adding dozens more vaccination pop-ups to support outer-suburban, regional and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
More than 63 per cent of Victorians over 16 have now had their third dose however the figure is lower among those who became eligible more recently.
A total of 42 per cent of 18 to 29-year-olds and 53.6 per cent of people in their 30s have received three doses of the vaccine.
The walk-in clinic at Mildura’s Bunnings carpark will be open from 8am to 1pm each day until Sunday.
