Young Demon hungry for a win

A RISING star who has risen through the ranks, Joshua Goss hopes to help Mildura take home their first win of the season.

Selected as this week’s Mildura & District Real Estate Rising Star, Goss said he did what he could to help the team during their round 5 game against Red Cliffs.

“I reckon I played my role well for the team,” he said.

“(I) just take me boots, the lucky things that I think work, and just do whatever the coach says.”

The wing player said he began playing for Mildura in the Under 10s team, rising through the ranks before making his senior debut this year.

Goss said staying with Mildura in the SFNL, he had been able to form relationships with his teammates and enjoyed the social side of football.

“It is brilliant, you get to know everyone,” he said.

“It is good to hang out with people you know and build good relationships with them.

“The coaches and the senior boys, we have a really young team and they are just really standing up and leading the team this year,” he said.

Outside of the SFNL, Goss said he had played three or four games for the Bendigo Pioneers.

“I’m playing for (Bendigo) Pioneers at the moment so will try and get a few more games down there and see what we can do at the end of the year,” he said.

“(I) get some good experience down there and play with some really good talents.”

Taking on South Mildura in the SFNL tomorrow, Goss said he thought victory would be just around the corner for Mildura.

“I reckon we are going really strong, we just haven’t capitalised on getting the win,” he said.

“We will see how we go this week.”

As the round 3 Mildura & District Real Estate Rising Star, Goss receives $50 courtesy of Mildura and District Real Estate, 91 Commercial Street, Merbein, and is in the running to be named Rising Star of the Year.
