Sam’s set for big step up

OUYEN United’s Sam O’Shannessy has won the Rising Star award for round 8 of the SFNL seniors’ competition.

The youngster was best on ground in the Kangas’ 40-point win against Robinvale Euston at Underbool last Saturday.

O’Shannessy booted five goals in his return from Bendigo Pioneers’ duties in the NAB League.

There is speculation it may be his last game for the Kangas as he plays a greater role in the Pioneers’ program.

The Kangas tackle Mildura at Brian Weightman Oval on Saturday, while O’Shannessy will be part of the Pioneers’ line-up for the clash with the Murray Bushrangers at Mildura Sporting Precinct on Sunday.

As this week’s SFNL Rising Star, Sam receives $50 from Mildura & District Real Estate, 62-64 Commercial Street, Merbein.
