MERBEIN

ON Wednesday, June 15 a Par event was held with Roger Walder the winner with square and Jim Piper runner-up with -3.

As previously explained, due to low numbers a ball comp was not issued – only nine players played on Wednesday and the minimum requirement for a ball comp is 10 players.

Saturday, June 18 a Stableford was played. Again there were very low numbers for Saturday’s competition and this is becoming a concern. We need our members to play at The Royal if we want to make this club what we are all talking up and trying to make it.

The Shed Company has commenced sheeting the new clubrooms – the area is fantastic and everyone can see what a difference these new clubrooms will make — we just need members to attend, especially on Saturdays.

Winner for the Adrian Rudd Perpetual Trophy Day was Peter Gourlay with 38 points. Again thank you to Adrian Rudd for donating the daily prize momey and perpetual award. Runner-up was Matt Vining with 35 points.

VETERANS

On Monday the district veteran golfers travelled to Ouyen for the club’s annual hosting of a 4BBB Stableford event and the results will appear next week.

Our next event will be held in just under two weeks time. It is our annual championship round so it is a Stroke game to be held at the Red Cliff Golf Club on Monday, July 4.

We will return to our regular format beginning with 8.30am registration, a 9am captain’s address followed by a 9.30am shotgun start.

All par threes have a Nearest the Pin prize and badge wearers have the opportunity of winning a golf ball. Some forgot to wear theirs at our last meeting.

Be sure that you check your GA handicap to ensure you are playing off the correct handicap. Golf carts are in limited numbers so be sure to contact the club beforehand to ensure one is available for you.
