VETERANS

IN less than a fortnight, the local veterans will be heading over to the Coomealla Golf Club for their next game. It will be held on Monday, August 1. The competition will be a 4BBB Stableford featuring the usual NTP prizes for the par threes. Continuing on from last month, there will be a third prize awarded in both grades. This is possible because of a generous new sponsor donating meal vouchers.

As always, I remind all members to come prepared on the day. Firstly it is appreciated if members could pay the $20 daily charge with the correct change. Finding change can be challenging if we receive too many $50 notes (don’t even contemplate giving us a hundred). Secondly order a hire cart before the day to avoid disappointment. The cost to veterans at Coomealla is $25 per cart. Just ring the club house to secure yours. Thirdly please wear your membership badge as it helps with registration and it may win you a prize. Last month’s lucky winner was Graeme Irvin. Finally check the Golf Australia website or your club for your current GA score to ensure you are playing off the correct handicap.

Coomealla is considered one of the more challenging district courses, so numbers are generally good as players take the opportunity to play on the pristine fairways and greens. It probably boasts the most sand bunkers as well.

So get your team together and head interstate for a great day’s golf. See you there. Keep swinging.
