VETERANS

ON Monday, July 25 the district veterans golfers contested a 4BBB Stableford at the Coomealla Golf Club (results next week).

The VVGA has updated the procedures and format for their two day tournaments. The underlining principle for these events is that they are conducted for the enjoyment of all Victorian veteran golfers..

Four championship events are conducted each year at various state-wide venues. They are a 4BBB, a country, a team and a state event and will be played in three grades and there will be NTPs for all tournaments..

Depending on the event formats, they will include Stroke and Stableford and are open to both men and women. All will be shotgun starts.

To be eligible, players must be affiliated with an association belonging to the VVGA, have played at least two rounds with their district group and be a member of a golf club affiliated with Golf Australia. They must have a current GA handicap with the maximum of 36 for men and 45 for women.

These processes align with our district games. Local members are affiliates and therefore eligible to enter. Historically the tyranny of distance has meant few Sunraysia players take the opportunity to play, hopefully that might change.

The next event is the team event that will be held at the Stawell Golf Club on September 6-7. Entry forms are online.
