Award for specialty housing partners

SUNRAYSIA Residential Services and Garraway Developments have again been recognised for producing specialised housing in the Mildura region.

For a second year running, their collaboration has been awarded winner of the 2022 HIA Northern Victoria Specialised Housing with the build of the DAN Complex for disabled people.

The DAN Complex site was chosen specifically for its accessibility and proximity to local amenities and also incorporates the platinum level of the Liveable Housing Guidelines.

SRS chief executive Marian Luehman said she was extremely proud of both the DAN Complex and Carrazza Complex which were purposefully designed, with varying requirements to meet and exceed the highest safety, design and amenity standards in Australia.

In 2021, SRS and Garraway Developments won the Housing Industry Association (HIA), Northern Victoria Regional Housing (Specialised Housing) Award with the development of the “Carrazza Complex”.

“The Carrazza Complex was purposefully designed to provide housing to people with disabilities without compromising on quality and finishes,” Ms Luehman said.

The HIA praised the build for its platinum level of Liveable Housing Guidelines featuring a modern colour scheme, polished concrete floors and clever materials selection.

Judges praised the finished product for being “highly functional, as well as truly feeling like home”.

“This complex in Mildura was designed to provide housing to people with disabilities, without compromising on quality and finishes,” the judges said.

Ms Luehman said she was grateful for the support of from local businesses.

She said 100 per cent of all donations received went directly into buying and developing properties to help improve the lives of participants.

“We are a not-for-profit organisation — that does not receive government funding,” she said.

“We are committed to providing quality homes with specialised equipment to the families we support.”
