TEMPY Tigers finally look set to take to the pitch after having their opening three games of the Red Cliffs Cricket Association were washed out.
The 2021/22 runners-up will face Fire Brigade on their home deck today and will be raring to get going following the delayed start to the campaign.
Just two A Grade games will take place Saturday as the first of three split rounds across the season.
The Tigers boast a strong bowling attack with four players — Dylan Davies, Nc Monaghan, Zac Robertson and Ben Mole — all finishing inside the top 10 wicket takers last season.
Mole was impressive for the Red Cliffs CA representative side, which comfortably defeated Broken Hill’s Barrier District Cricket Association in their contest last week, finishing with 4/8. He was also the club’s highest run scorer in 2021/22 with 323 runs, the third most in the competition.
For Fire Brigade, gun batter Jason Beard scored 53 at the top of the order during their loss to Robinvale Euston two weeks ago, but was one of only two players to reach double figures. David Holland also nabbed two wickets in the defeat to the Rangers.
In the weekend’s other contest, Robinvale Euston are at home to Cardross at Len Arnott Oval.
Rangers star recruit Braidyn Turner scored 59 in his opening match with his home town club as the team ran past Fire Brigade by five wickets.
Aaron Zappia’s 22 at the top of the order also helped during the run chase, while Thomas Zappia, Tom Lister and Dilan Kottahachige all finished with two wickets.
The Cardross bowlers were on the receiving end of a Conor Schultz century against Ouyen Rams, but Seth Lanigan impressed with 3/18 from his seven overs.
Jeremy Aworth led the way with the bat with 23, however six others all reached double figures which is an encouraging sign.
Ouyen Rams and Millewa, who are also yet to play a game this season, have the bye.
