RESULTS from week commencing October 31.
How good has it been to have a few days of sunshine this week, just what we have been waiting for.
On Monday, October 31, Brice Liddell came home with a win after his 38 points. He was followed by runner-up Brian Young, on a countback with Mark Woodhouse and Ken Upton, all on 36 points.
Balls: (7) 35 points.
NTP: 18th – Mark Woodhouse (620cm).
The Melbourne Cup Day Four Person Ambrose was enjoyed by a mighty field of 126 with the team of Reece Farr, Noel and Andrew Thomas and Clayton Clifford recording a smashing score of (52.25). Second place went to Corey Iredale, Nick Goodieson, Brett Harvey and Paul Wilkinson (55.375) and very close behind was Tenupale Opo, Davison Mbindi, Lachlan Giles and Steven
Batchelor in third place. Balls: (10 teams) 58.375.
The men played for their monthly award on Wednesday and the overall best score of the day went to George Barila with a sizzling (89/66).
Andrew Diwell also finished with an amazing score grabbing A Grade on (78/68) with runner-up Ken Upton (88/71) on a countback from Kendall Marchment (76/71).
It was left to a countback in B Grade as well, with John Kennedy collecting the win (98/73) and Les Ball being left in second place (102/73). Balls: (9) 73 nett.
Damien Arney struck two amazing shots on the par four 13th to leave with an eagle.

There was loads of fun and laughter had by all at the Ladies Oak’s Day on Thursday with a nine hole four person better ball seeing four teams winding up on 24 points.
After a countback the team of Rose Gilardi, Jill Shalders and two visiting ladies from Queen’s Park, Louise and Fiona Watach, were awarded the winners and also had their names added to the Perpetual Oaks Day Trophy.
Second place was taken out by Adel Dal Corobbo, Janette Mason and the organisers and sponsors of the day, Lyn Delmenico and Roz Nash.
Balls: The team of Suzy Conquest, Margie Dunlop, Caroline James and Jen Leach and then Verna Wakefield, Jenny Bower, Gaye Briggs and Lorraine Palmer.

The medley nine hole Stableford on Friday saw Brad Winslow on top with 23 points over Daz Whetstone on 21 points. Balls: (14) 17 on a countback.
Lirlene Crozier not only had a fantastic round on Saturday (39 points), she was three in front of her nearest rival, Adel Dal Corobbo (36 points).

The men’s Stableford on Saturday was played in three grades and a field of 104 rolled up to enjoy the perfect weather.
All grades put together excellent scores in the 40s with Trent Smith taking the win after a countback in A Grade over Chris O’Brien, both on 40 points.
The B Grade winner was Glen Walker with 41 points and a three way countback was needed to determine Timothy Earl as runner-up in front of Brett Overton and Seb Raiti, all on 36 points.
Peter Williams also had an exceptional round in C Grade amassing 41 points to win over Brian Williamson (Portland Golf Club) on 38 points. Balls: (26) 34 points on a countback.
Seb Raiti played the par five 2nd hole to perfection, leaving with an eagle.

Sunday’s medley Stableford was played in two Grades with two brothers taking the top placings in A Grade – Wayne Innes (39 points) grabbed the honours to win in front of Mick (37 points), but Mick had to battle out a countback to put him in second place over Noel Thomas and Mark Luitjes.
Kerry Grimmer won the fight in B Grade after he and Wayne Sievewright completed rounds of 39 points. Balls: (8) 37 points on a countback.
The eagles were certainly flying this week with another one on the par five 2nd hole, this time from Andrew Thomas.
MERBEIN
TUESDAY, November 1 was the Melbourne Cup Day Stableford event.
Winner: Robert Redman 33 points (countback); runner-up: Frank Crouch 33 points.
Ball: Paul Mulder 32 points.

If you have not paid your annual subscriptions for membership you will now need to pay green fees and competition fees until the subscriptions are paid – subs were due in September.
WENWORTH
THE Murray House Charity Day was a very successful event and we thank you all for your participation and patience. The weather was not on our side and the day was called off after nine holes.
Thursday’s Stroke round went to Bill Slee with 74 nett; runner-up and NTP going to Garry Bourke 79 nett and 890cm on the 17th. Mr Risky went to Garry Clark 81 nett.
Sunday’s Stroke again went the way of the captain with 71 nett and runner-up and NTP to Garry Bourke with 73 and 800cm on the 8th. Mr Risky to J. Mudge with 94 nett.
The Club Championships leaves Garry Bourke in front with 152 nett after the completion of his two rounds..
MILDURA
THE Veterans played Stableford on Monday, October 31 with the winner Alan Steedman (17) on 41 points from runner-up John Williams on 40 points.
NTPs: 2nd – Ferdi Bergamin 380cm; 12th – Ian Nimon 420cm.
Melbourne Cup Day 4BBB stableford event on Tuesday, November 1: Winners were Ruth and Nicholas Rodi with 43 points on a three-way countback from runners-up Brett Beswick and Denny Fox and John Williams and Michael Coghlan all with 43 points.
NTPs: 2nd Trentham Estate – Alan Steedman 955cm; 12th Zilzie Wines – Maurice Warn 470cm.
There was an eagle three on the 18th for Nicholas Rodi for four balls in the eagle’s nest.
Last Wednesday 83 players took to the course for the November Monthly Mug Stroke competition.
A Grade winner was Peter Rhodes (12) with a nett 70 on a countback from runner-up Greg Toma (8); a 3rd place mention to Robert Young (10) with a 71 nett.
B Grade winner was Ron Leamon (19) with a nett 70 from runner-up John Simpson (22) with 71 nett on a countback from Robert Shipsides also on nett 71.

Friday 9s Twilight Stableford winner was Ruth Rodi (24) with 17 points on a countback from runner-up Kim Ingram (29) 17 points.
Last Saturday the men played their Monthly Medal Stroke event and 108 players took to the course on a beautiful sunny day with the course looking in top condition.
A Grade winner was Maurice Warn (8) with a 67 nett to win by two shots from runner-up Paul Leonard (13) with a 69 nett, and a 3rd place mention to Robert Briggs with a 71 nett.
B Grade winner was John Williams (17) with a 68 nett from runner-up Ross Williams (19) on 70 nett on a countback from Ernie Tyrrell (16) also on 70 nett.
C Grade winner was Shannon Bush (39) with a fantastic 64 nett from runner-up Chris Bush (25) with 70 nett and a 3rd place mention to Michael Coghlan (21) on nett 73.

There was a hole-in-one for Fred Stafford on the 10th, congratulations Fred.
Fred collected the eagle’s nest of two balls.

Pennant golf went to Red Cliffs on Sunday and the ladies team lost another close match to Riverside Green 3/2, with wins to Sue Burgess 3/2 and Marg McGlashan 8/7.
Men’s Division 2 Mildura Black had a win over Riverside 3½/1½ with wins to David Murray 5/4, Trevor Riordan 2/1, Greg Toma 2/1 and Paul White squared his match for a half.
Men’s Division 2 Mildura Gold played the home team for the second week in a row and lost 3/2 to Red Cliffs. Wins to Simon Kelly 4/3 and Gary Fumberger 1 up.
Men’s Division 3 lost there first match for the season against Riverside 3/2 with wins to Nigel Ingram 6/5 and Wayne Dahmes 4/3.

RED CLIFFS
ON Wednesday, November 2 the ladies played with two sticks and a putter.
The A Grade ladies showed you don’t need a full bag of clubs, with Dee Hopkins having 72 to win from Sally Jones on 73. In B Grade Glenys Murray won on a countback from Heather Shaw with 79.
Balls went to Debbie Hassell, Jill Gleeson and Sheryl Blagus.
NTPs: 3rd Sally Jones 505; 8th – Sally Jones 1470; 12th – Sheryl Blagus 410; 15th – Rita Chase 90.
The men played a two person Ambrose and Malcolm Goodieson and Gary Nunn were the narrow winners with 65.75 from Andrew Wood and Mark Wilson on 66. Mark Collett and Neville Walker were the ball winners. NTPs: 8th – Ron Baird 114; 18th – Peter Lynch 352.
Stroke was played by both genders on Saturday and Nick Goodieson won the men’s A Grade with 67 with Daryl Morgan the runner-up with 72.
The winner in B Grade was Steven Forrest with 72 from Ron Baird on 74. 74 nett won a ball.

VETERANS
ON Monday the district veteran golfers were greeted to a warm welcome and warm weather at the Merbein Golf Club.
Affectionately known as Royal Merbein, the club provided us with a great course and even greater hospitality. Thank you to the ladies for the lunch and the other members for their support on the day.
Being a 4BBB Stableford event, good scores were the order of the day. The winning pair was Ned Klemm and Garry Swallow with an impressive 42 points from the runners-up on a countback John
Green and Terry Buckingham on 39 points, with Ken Evan and Peter Knight taking out third place also on 39.
The ball winners were Barry Pilgrim, Maurice Munro, Peter Brady, Doug Poole, Wayne Innes, Grant Giddings, Graeme Irvin, David Lloyd, Ken Upton, Brian Young, Steve Clarke and Lorey Rogers.
The NTPs went to Alan Steedman on the 3rd, while Jill Gleeson scored a double winning both the 12th and 16th. No one reached the 8th with their drive.
The badge raffle winner was Bruce Mathieson. We also welcomed new member Bob Latte who played his first, of what we hope will be many more games. We held the AGM and I will report more on that next week.
Our Christmas event will be the last for the year before we start our two month summer break and it will be a single Stableford held on December 5 at the Mildura Golf Club.
