AN online directory showcasing makers, creators and producers from the Murray River region has been launched in the lead-up to Christmas.
Made in The Murray aimed to encourage consumers to enjoy a taste of the region from home.
Launched by Murray Regional Tourism (MRT), it featured Sunraysia’s Fossey’s distillery, Cappa Stone Wines, Trentham Estate, Stefano’s and Murray River Salt.
MRT said the platform was a key feature of Visit Victoria’s Click for Vic campaign, which was first introduced in 2020 and recently reinstated, to encourage buying local.
Visitors can shop fresh produce, award-winning wines, boutique brews, locally crafted gin and whisky, and a collection of treats and gifts.
MRT said while so many tourism operators were devastated by high waters, impacting their peak summer season, Made in The Murray offered a range of experience gift vouchers for visitors to show their support for the region.
Murray Regional Tourism interim chief executive Will Flamsteed said the Murray’s makers and creators pour love and passion into their craft while carrying the true essence of the region.
“We’re so lucky to have an incredibly diverse community of producers in the Murray contributing to the region’s reputation as Australia’s most important food bowls,” he said.
“Following a really challenging two years with border closures, and the recent high river levels, we’re excited to position Made in The Murray as a way to enjoy the Murray between visits and savour the flavours from wherever you are in Australia.”
