Ouyen Rams face Tempy Tigers

OUYEN Rams have their sights set on an unbeaten record heading into the Christmas break in the Red Cliffs Association.

Fresh off spoiling the party for Millewa’s first home game at Mildura Sporting Precinct, the Rams will take the short drive down the highway to face Tempy.

The defending champions made history as the first team to win a cricket match for premiership points at the MSP, with skipper Brad Parsons and reigning best and fairest winner Alex Morrish on fire.

Ouyen finished their 20 overs at 8/114, with all-rounder Morrish leading the way with a blistering 44 from 25 deliveries. Parsons (21) and opener Conor Schultz (20) were also solid.

During their bowling innings Parsons took 3/13 while Morrish, Tim Vine and Daniel Kay all finished with two wickets each.

Tempy, meanwhile, enter today’s clash on the back of a tough loss to Fire Brigade, although they did play short and were missing Ben Mole.

Despite being rolled for 56, the Tigers had both Tate Hulland and Joel Monaghan score 20.

The contest will count as the grand final rematch from last season, with their previously scheduled encounter having been washed out.

Millewa will be back at MSP and looking to recover against a strong Robinvale Euston outfit who are coming off a bye.

The Bullants’ bowling last round was solid with Iain Ellis taking 3/26 and Scottie Clark and James Parker nabbing two each.

Aside from Damien Arney (18) and Jason Tonkin (15) however, no Millewa batsman reached double figures.

At the top of the order Braidyn Turner and Tom Lister have been in solid form for the Rangers, and first-year bowler Dilan Kottahachige has impressed with 11 wickets for the campaign.

Fire Brigade are aiming to make it three wins in their last four games when they visit Cardross, who also had the bye in last week’s split round.

Luke Leersen’s 5/12 takes him to 10 scalps for the season so far, Lachy Rohde’s 2/9 gives him seven wickets, while Jason Beard and Josh Maloney’s batting saw them across the line against Tempy.

The Lions are looking to get off the mark for the season.
