Otto Studios wins Viddy award

MILDURA-based video production company Otto Studios has received a Platinum Award at the annual Viddy Awards.

The Viddy Awards, which is one of the oldest, largest and most respected international awards programs in the video industry, aims to identify and recognise the video creators who excel in the scope of their environment and local industry.

The Platinum Level Award given to Otto Studios, which has bases in Mildura and Adelaide, is the highest award attainable.

It won the award in December 2022 in the category of short form web video series, for the production of a series of story based films on the finalists for the 2022 AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award.

Otto Studios said the project required travelling to the location of each state finalist to interview them and film them in their home and work environments.

The AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award was Australia’s leading award, empowering and celebrating the inclusive and courageous leadership of women involved in Australia’s rural and emerging industries, businesses, and communities.

Company director Anthony Rizzuto, who operated the business in Adelaide before moving back to his home town of Mildura in 2017, said it had always been great to work with the annual Rural Women’s Awards.

“It gives us the chance to meet and capture the stories of some inspiring people in some beautiful locations,” he said.

“Plus personally, being a country boy myself, I have always had a love of capturing regional stories and industries since I began in the video industry in the late 90s.”

Mr Rizzuto said the award-winning RWA project was particularly challenging at times due to COVID and also flight delays or cancellations around the country.

“The surprise of winning the award after working so hard on the project was a great feeling and it is always nice to be acknowledged for the quality of our work,” he said.
