ROBINVALE Euston can take a step towards securing a home final in the Red Cliffs Cricket Association with a victory over Millewa today.
With five rounds remaining in the A Grade season, the Rangers sit two games clear of Tempy in third, however the Tigers take on the undefeated Ouyen Rams in Round 15 action.
If all goes to script and unless Millewa spoil the party at Len Arnott Oval, it could put Robinvale three games ahead as the race to finals begins.
The Rangers come into the contest on the back of an impressive six-wicket win over Cardross last week, with the bowling attack rolling the Lions for 75.
Travis Shawcross (3/15) and Aaron Zappia (3/23) topped the bowling figures, while league leading wicket taker Dilan Kottahachige continued his good form with 2/15, moving to 20 scalps for the season.
A quickfire 32 from Tom Lister and 23 from Zappia saw the Rangers across the line.
Millewa were defeated by Ouyen last week and will be out to break a three-game winless run.
Although it was rough day with the bat against the Rams, having been dismissed for 43, Iain Ellis impressed with the ball, taking 3/36, while Troy Muster (2/8) and Matt Daly (2/13) were also among the wickets.
Ouyen and old rivals Tempy come face to face at Blackburn Park where, with a quirk in the draw, the Rams will play four of their five remaining home and away fixtures.
Skipper Brad Parsons has also been in sparkling form, adding another 27 runs to take his season average to 63.5, while a season-best 5/12 takes him to 16 wickets for the campaign.
Opener Conor Schultz moves to the top of the runs table after scoring 82, taking him to 340 runs for the campaign. However, it’s the first time he has passed the half century mark since his opening day ton back in October.
Tim Vine (2/3) and Alex Morrish (2/10) also impressed with the ball.
Tempy return from a bye but will look to the likes of Tate Hulland and Nic Monaghan to continue their good bowling form.
In the final game, Fire Brigade host Cardross at Quandong Park after also having the bye last week.
Jason Beard has been in top form with the bat, averaging shade over 40, while Lachy Rohde and Luke Leersen have been dangerous with the ball.
Despite last week’s result, Cardross skipper Aaron Graham was impressive, top scoring with 44 and taking 2/9 in his 14 deliveries.
