A HAT-trick by Merbein young gun Eden Trinick capped an outstanding semi-final performance for the Magpies, who will face Mildura East in Friday’s Sunraysia Cricket Association Premier Women’s Grand Final.
At just 11 years old, Trinick, daughter of First Division veteran Shane, cleaned up the final three wickets of the Nichols Point Gold innings to dismiss the minor premiers for 37, securing a 57-run win at Nichols Point Reserve.
Sister Callie Trinick took 3/6 as Eden finished with 3/4.
Earlier, run machine Carrie Barlow made 26 and Alecia Brook 18 not out as the Magpies finished their 20 overs at 9/94. Elitama Akima took 4/16 for the Pointers.
Meanwhile, at Brian Weightman Oval, Mildura East’s Sonia Drew was in superb form, scoring an unbeaten 30 and taking 4/5 during East’s 87-run win over Gol Gol.
Shania McKinnon also retired on 30 and Taya Higgins finished with an impressive with 3/2 during the victory.
East and Merbein will collide in the grand final at Brian Weightman Oval on Friday night from 5.30pm.
