Ouyen tennis tourney a big hit

THE 41st annual Rohan Gregg Memorial Labour Day Tournament in Ouyen attracted more than 190 players over the long weekend.

In the Men’s Open singles, Josh Gregg cruised to victory, dropping only three games, while Natasha McGennisken won the Women’s Open singles.

In the Men’s A Grade singles, Ned Nihill defeated Richard Wardle while in the women’s, Kate Locket beat Violet McGennisken in a thriller.

Another highlight of the weekend was 34-year veteran referee Greg Cooke receiving life membership for his service at the tournament.

Club president Paul Dean was excited to make the emotional announcement.

“We surprised him after the raffle, it was a highlight of the tournament,” Dean said.
