Sunraysia district golf results

VETERANS:

THE district veteran golfers enjoyed another successful day at Robinvale on Monday. Once again a large field of 56 players teed off for the Drummond Golf 4BBB Stableford event.

The eventual winning pair of Tony Del Corrobo and Alan Steedman beat Peter Sinnotand and Mick Nunn on a countback. In third place was Glenn Butterworth and Cath Remer.

The ball winners were David Gardiner, G. Butcher, Lorie Rogers, Steve Clarke, Wayne Innes, John Denman, R. Pain, Rod Chase, Keith Williams, Geoff Cameron, G. McClure, Doug Aitman, Jenny Gowers, Jill Gleeson, Graeme Southwell, George Riordan, France Willman, Gary Sharman, Kevin Jones and Joe Mitchell.

Those who were able to land on the greens for the NTP prizes were David Lloyd on the 1st, Peter Dury on the 7th, Gary Sharman on the 11th and Rob Latta on the 14th.

Our thanks to the Robinvale Golf Club and their staff for the preparation of the course, for the catering and the warm welcome. A special mention to the Euston Club Resort for their additional support through the Club Grants program and to Cath Remer in securing that for the association.

Our next event will be held on Monday, June 5, at the Red Cliffs Golf Club. It will be a single Stableford event.

A reminder to all members that we have an extra event in June and that is on Monday, June 19, at Ouyen. Please be aware that we will revert to the events as listed on the syllabus for the remainder of the year.

MERBEIN:

LAST Wednesday was a Stableford event with Graeme Kerr winning on a countback with 35 points from runner-up Graeme Kelly.

NTPs: 8th Drummond Golf Sunraysia Golf Range – Ged Chapman 315cm; 12th Club voucher – Graeme Kelly 420cm; 16th Merbein Lions Club – Shane Trinick 290cm.

The Anzac Day Ambrose winners were John DeLorenzo and Rocky Pipicella 77 (65¼) on a countback from runners-up Greg Marshall and Graeme Kerr 74 (65¼).

NTPs: 3rd Australian Vintage Merbein – Paul Mulder 520cm; 3rd Pigeon Dollars – Paul Mulder; 12th Club voucher – Simon Dowling 546cm.

Meat raffle randomiser winner was Graeme Irvin.

Last Saturday an American Foursomes was played with Thorell Lees and Shane Trinick on 68⅛ winning from runners-up Jason Binding and John Bell 68½.

Today is Stableford with tee off from 12 noon and Saturday is the Monthly Medal Stroke.

RED CLIFFS:

LAST Wednesday the men and ladies played Stableford. Justin McPhee had 39 points to win A Grade and Mal Goodieson was the runner-up with 37 points. In B Grade Laurence Riordan won on a countback with 36 points from Garry Swallow.

NTPs: 8th – J. McPhee; 12th – J. McPhee; 15th –J. McPhee; 17th – T. Wilkinson.

For the A Grade ladies, Sally Jones had 36 points to win from Sandra Marwood with 35 points and in B Grade Deb Dark had 39 points to win from Helen Wood on 35 points.

NTPs: 3rd –L. Bottomley; 8th – J. Ryan; 12th – D. Hassell; 15th –S. Jones.

Dean Doolan won Friday’s nine hole comp on a countback with 21 points from Walter Schulz.

On Saturday a 4BBB Medley Stableford was played. Neville Birch and Fay Ross had 47 points to win from Biddy Pitt and Ruth Cupper with 46 points. Rodney Begg and Steven Forrest came third on a countback with 45 points.

MILDURA:

MONDAY’S Veterans competition on April 24 was won by Ken Upton (16) with 38 points from runner-up George Poriazis (10) with 36 points on a countback from third placed Wayne Manley (6) also on 36 points.

NTPs: 2nd Trentham Estate – Ivan McKenzie 635cm; 12th Zilzie Wines – Peter Dooley 60cm.

A capacity field of 144 players contested the annual Dockside Cafe Anzac Day Ambrose. Thanks to Sean and Jodie Bromley for their sponsorship for this big golfing day on our calendar. The weather was fantastic, and everyone enjoyed the day.

Winners were Josh Fleming, Caleb Conner, Brayden Petty and Josh Bailey with 61 (10⅜ ) for a 50⅝ nett score.

Runners-up were David Smith, Cameron Smith, Lachlan Smith and Clinton Jones with 63 (10⅜) for a 52⅝ nett.

Third place went to Terry Sparrow, Jason Milner, Terry Pain and Rodney Sparrow with 61 (8⅛ ) for a 52⅞ nett.

Mixed team winners were Chris Bush, Shannon Bush, Lorrie Bishop and Graeme Bishop with 72 (14⅜) for 57⅝ net.

NTPs: 2nd Trentham Estate – Sandra Hutchinson, Ed Parker; 10th Trentham Estate – Kerryn Nerindorf, John Bell; 12th Zilzie Wines – Shannon Bush, Alan Steedman.

Longest drives on the 11th – Glenda Hiskins, Jason Milner.

Last Wednesday a 4BBB Stableford was played with a good field of 124 players contesting this event.

The winners were a pair of visiting golfers from Dubbo, Susan Orbell and Karen Walsh with a fantastic score of 49 points from runners-up Bruce McEwan and Lee Sutherland with 47 points. Third place went to the pair of John Simpson and Don McConnell with 45 points.

There were 30 balls in the ball comp and 15 pairs with 41 points on a countback or better collected.

NTPs: 1st Pete’s Pure wine – Neil Saunders 328cm; 2nd Trentham Estate/PIG – Robin Hubble; 10th Trentham Estate – Gary Smart 480cm; 12th Zilzie Wines – Nigel Ingram 49cm.

Ladies Friday 18 holes competition winner was Dora Stewart (20) with 75 nett on a countback from runner-up Carla Sherriff (23) also with 75 nett.

NTPs: 2nd Trentham Estate – Ann Dewes 1380cm.

On Saturday 162 players took to the course for a medley single Stableford event.

A Grade winner was Larry Cavallaro (9) with 39 points from runner-up David Williams (10) with 37 points on a countback from third placed Craig Jervis (7) also on 37 points.

B Grade winner was Jayden Brooks (13) with 39 points from runner-up Tom Crouch with 38 points on a countback from third placed George Poriazis also with 38 points.

C Grade winner was Jayden Smith (19) with 41 points from runner-up Self Kuzu (17) with 40 points. Third place went to Ron Rowse (19) with 37 points.

D Grade winner was Henry Hartmann (22) with 40 points from runner-up Susan Mills (26) with 38 points and third place went to Peter Shadwick with 35 points.

There were 41 balls in the ball comp and 33 points on a countback or better collected.

NTPs: 1st Pete’s Pure wine – Greg Rhodes 140cm; 2nd Trentham Estate/PIG – George Poriazis 54cm; 10th Trentham Estate – Rob Pallot 805cm; 12th hole Zilzie Wines – Brett Willis 192cm.

The Ranfurly Iron Jack jackpotted.

Sunday’s medley Stableford competition winner was Jayden Smith (16) with 45 points from runner-up Shane Johnson (9) with 37 points.

There were 10 balls in the ball comp and 35 points on a countback or better collected.

The annual Irymple Rotary Charity medley Ambrose event is on Sunday, May 21. Call the golf shop to enter on 5022 8089.

Also coming up is the Forty Winks 4BBB knockout qualifying day on May 20 where the top eight scores qualify for a matchplay knockout to decide the winner of this esteemed board event.

ROBINVALE:

LAST Wednesday was a Stableford competition with A. Scarcella winning with 39 points from runner-up D Peniongo with 39 points on a countback from R. Digala also on 39 points.

NTP: 9th – L Hogg.

Last Saturday’s 4BBB Stableford winners were J. Tate and P Sinnott with a brilliant score of 50 points from runners-up S. Calarco and T. Budde on 45 points.

NTPs: 9th – R. Boyd; 14th – M. Corcoran.

Saturday is Monthly Medal day and sponsor of the day is Jeremey Boyd.

Robinvale Golf Club Resort’s Open tournament is on Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21 with 4BBB medley Stableford played on the Saturday.

The men’s 36 hole Open will be played on Sunday from 7.15am for a 7.45am shotgun start. Breakfast, lunch and nibbles provided.

The ladies with play their 18 hole Open on Sunday with either a 7.15am for 7.45am start or a 12 noon for 12.30pm shotgun start. Lunch and nibbles provided.
