Mildura a fighting chance in Super 8 Series

MILDURA continues to show why it is a hub of regional boxing with a fighter and a coach from Ladd’s Boxing gym being selected to represent South Australia at the upcoming Super 8 Series.

The event will see a total of 32 elite boxers from South Australia, Queensland, New South Wales and Western Australia battling it out in each of the states to determine the countries best boxers.

Coach Jackson Ladd was selected as one of three coaches to lead the team while boxer Gab Toutai was chosen as the state’s 67kg fighter.

“I think it is a really good opportunity for Gab, last time we had a boxer compete in the Super 8s was in 2019 so it is exciting to have another boxer in it,” Ladd said.

“Gab is the A side in this country he just beat an Australian champion at the South Australian club champs.”

“It is exciting for myself to go interstate again, I went to a national event in Sydney with four of our boxers earlier this year and there were probably more coaches at that event so this is a bit more exclusive with a select few coaches from South Australia.”

Ladd said the event would put Toutai in good stead to be selected for future teams.

“This event will narrow down who is the best boxer in each state and weight category similar to a state and national title,” he said.

“It prepares fighters for travelling and gets them ready to compete overseas. It also helps the officials and judges determine who has the best chance of going to the Olympics.”

Round one of the Super 8 Series will take place Fremantle from June 9-11th.
