Top Millewa teams dominate

MILLEWA netball’s top three teams continued their dominance over the A Grade competition with the finals just five weeks away.

The double chance is still up for grabs with six points separating Bambill, Nangiloc and Werrimull on the ladder.

Ladder leaders Bambill retained their place on top through a 10-goal win over Gol Gol 42-32.

Defensive star Tessa Houkamau led the way for the Saints with playing coach Samantha Garraway and Maddy Tormey also playing important roles.

Chelsea Henderson, Katrina Sobkowiak and Lucy Brown starred for the Hawks.

Chloe Nelson and Tee Thompson led Nangiloc to a 15-goal victory over a determined Cardross outfit 60-45.

The Demons trail the Saints by two points but have the superior percentage, which potentially sets up a mouthwatering clash in the final home and away round of the season.

Alongside Nelson and Thompson, Ash Loveridge was also an impressive performer.

Montanna Ezzey found herself in the best players again for the bottom of the table Lions, with Chloe Brabender and Pippa Gray also earning plaudits.

Third-placed Werrimull recorded the biggest margin of the round with a 27-goal win over Lake Cullulleraine co-tenants Meringur 57-30.

Usual performers Maddison Maher, Cassie Morris and Tara Martin all stood out for the Magpies, while Lakayla Pettit, Madelyn McPhee, Teagan Pettigrew were impressive for the Roos.

Werrimull face a huge test when they host Nangiloc this weekend.
