Nangiloc shoots for top two finish

THE double chance in Millewa Netball Association’s A Grade season still remains wide open with four rounds left until finals.

Third-placed Werrimull host second-placed Nangiloc in what could be a defining contest for both team’s ambitions at the business end of the season.

Demons co-coach Tamara Loveridge said her side, who trail ladder leaders Bambill by two points, are excited for the chance to potentially wrap up a top-two finish.

“We’ve beaten them before and they’ve also gotten one over us,” she said.

“Our win against them was obviously positive and in our loss I don’t think we actually did much wrong, it’s more that they’ve been a team for so long and they know each other’s game so well.

“For Nangi this year it’s almost a completely new team and given we still train at Nangiloc it can be a bit erratic with numbers but I think it’s a really talented side we have this year.

“I think we’ve worked out where a few of our little issues are and now it’s just a matter of improving on them ahead of finals.”

Loveridge said despite ladder standings every contest has been a tough battle across the opening 11 rounds.

“With other seasons success more been based around team bonding which is still true this year, but each side also has some dominant players which means you can’t take any game lightly,” she said.

“Cardross are on the bottom of the ladder but by no means are they an easy team to beat.”

In other Millewa Netball Association contests, Gol Gol can move a step closer to securing a finals berth if they defeat Cardross on the road, while ladder leaders Bambill are at home to a Meringur side still fighting for the top four.
