MILDURA City secured the S-League senior women’s title with a resounding 5-1 victory over Irymple Knights on Sunday.

The dominant force of Sunraysia women’s football in recent years have won the top flight title every year since 2015, bar the cancelled 2020 COVID-affected season and the following 2021 campaign when Irymple took the honours.

Golden Boot leader Chenoa Hunter opened the scoring for City in the 35th minute but with the scoreboard reading 1-0 at half-time, it was still anybody’s contest.

Three goals within eight minutes of resumption however put the result to bed with Ellie Dimasi, Lilly Pulham and Nikarla Kirby all on the scoresheet.

Knight’s Natalie Prictor got one back for her side in the 72nd minute but Isabella Palamara put the final icing on the cake just four minutes later.

In senior men’s competition, City returned to the top of the ladder with a dominant 6-1 victory over Three Colours.

The defending champions leapfrogged Knights, who had the bye, led by a brace each from Nicolas Woods and Domenic Ghidinelli to secure the result and all-important goal difference with four rounds remaining in the season.

Meanwhile Mildura United recorded their best result of the campaign with a 5-1 result over Nichols Point.

Leading scorer Bireke Rumbuka scored a goal either side of half-time, with Medhi Zahidi, Tien Dat Nguyen and Max Stolar also finding the net.

Pointer Jose Ibarguen ensured United didn’t record a clean sheet by scoring in the 76th minute.
