PJ’s win for food to go

PJ’S Foodworks has been awarded for the Most Outstanding Food to Go Department of the Year in the state.

Australian United Retailers, a support office for independently owner retailers, recently awarded the Mildura Foodworks location with the recognition.

Manager John Huckvale said the owners had put a lot of work into revitalising the takeaway area since taking over the business two years ago, including putting in new equipment.

“We’ve been mindful to provide a really good mix of hot, ambient and chilled food and catering to a wide range of customers, like egg and bacon Turkish rolls for the tradies in the morning,” he said.

“Every day we have different specials to keep that variety, and we’ve had a new coffee machine installed to go along with the slice cabinet, if people want to pop in and get something quick there’s always options.

“It’s also important to us to make sure we’re sourcing a lot of our produce from locals wherever we can, especially in summer when our fruit salads are really popular.”

Mr Huckvale said the award was an incredible achievement and credit to the quality of foods, and attention to customer service the staff provide.

“We’re all really proud, being in takeaway is hard work, it’s hot in summer and freezing in winter but these guys always do a really good job,” Mr Huckvale said.

“This recognition wouldn’t have been possible without each and everyone going above and beyond to serve our customers.”
