Rebels bounce back with dominant win

AFTER a shock loss to bottom side Sarnia Sloggers last week, Red Cliffs Rebels were looking for a return to form against Nichols Point Guns and Roses in Division One of the Sunraysia District Tennis Association.

What transpired was a demolition. Red Cliffs’ women won all their sets convincingly. Rebel Rob Keens won his singles but Nichols Point were victorious in two of the men’s doubles.

Red Cliffs returned to the winning side of the ledger again in both of the mixed doubles to give a final score of eight sets to two on a day the Guns and Roses would probably prefer to forget.

The second Division One match was a close affair between Nichols Point Legends and Sacred Heart Guns. In their previous meeting Sacred Heart won seven sets to three but the Legends are on the move and hoping to back up their 2022 Division One premiership.

Nathan Swaeney and Aaron Wilkie were unbeaten on the day for Nichols Point while Breanna Bagnall and Kerrie Lynch won all their sets for the Guns.

The final score of five sets all was an improvement for the Legends but Sacred Heart still took out the match 64 games to 55.
