Hepburn on fire under the post

ROBINVALE-EUSTON sharpshooter Sarah Hepburn has been awarded the Mildura Golf Resort SFNL Netballer of the Week after a scoring frenzy in her side’s 60-49 win over Imperials.

Hepburn netted 43 goals in the result, further solidifying her claim as one of the SFNL’s most dangerous goal threats.

She is now placed second on the stats leaderboard for most scored with a huge total of 223.

“I think us Robinvale girls did really well,” said Hepburn.

“We gelled as a team and we were able to get the win, that was a great game for us, and it was so good to see us perform well.”

It has been a season of persistent growth for the Eagles group, who have been improving with each round.

Hepburn said the increase in momentum stems from the side gradually getting to understand each other’s strengths and weaknesses on the court as well as inspired leadership.

“Obviously our team was very new at the start of the season, and I think Georgia has done a great job training us.”

“I also think just getting to know each other and being able to get trainings in as a team, actually bond together, gel.”

“We’ve shown we actually have the ability, we just need to prove it.”

The eagles triumph over imps was built on effective defensive pressure and rapid ball movement, which are the two things that Hepburn said were major contributing factors for her having the space to let loose with shooting proficiency.

“Credit goes to the defenders and the whole team really.”

“They provided me the ball and that’s just me shooting the goals for what they’ve done.”

“The girls provided the intercepts and brought the ball down and I think just as a whole we did very well on the weekend.”

Hepburn also particularly pointed to Robinvale player coach and shooting partner, Georgia Giofrelle for influencing her fiery form under the post.

“It’s having the support from Georgia which is great and also having her on the court, being able to be in the goals with her and everything really helps,” she said.

“She supports us on and off the court so well.”

“But I don’t think I would be that high up on the scorers list without any of my team and the way they give me the ball.”

As the Mildura Golf Resort SFNL Netballer of the Week for round eight Hepburn receives a $150 voucher for the Mildura Golf Resort.
