Season opener a clear success

LAST Sunday was the 2023-24 season opening day for Underbool Bowls Club.

President Col Lockett welcomed all in attendance, including visitors from Ouyen Bowls Club, and then he had the privilege of introducing federal MP Dr Anne Webster, Member for Mallee, to officially open our bowls season.

As usual, the ladies had prepared and presented a beautiful luncheon which everyone enjoyed before an afternoon of social bowls.

Three games of 2-4-2 were played for trophies donated by Robert and Merle Pole and Raelene Winslow.

The winners were Norm Latta and Marie Cummings from runners-up Reg Dean and Colleen Gloster.

A large number of raffles followed.

It was a very successful opening day and we look forward to sharing our new synthetic green with all our surrounding clubs during the upcoming pennant and tournament season.

Saturday pennant begins on Saturday, when our first game in third division will be against Workers at Workers.

Teams are: Rob Gloster (s), Cam Gloster, A Willsmore and Jen Stone; H Crothers (s), John Stone, Frankie Gloster and S Lynch; C Lockett (s), L Stone, Ray Gloster and W Stone.
