Ouyen hunting the Hawks

By Chris Mitchell

AFTER two solid wins to start the season, Ouyen will be up and about with the realisation that a win in round 3 of Bowls Sunraysia pennant could see them claim top spot on the ladder.

The Two Blues travel to Kenny Park to do battle with the Merbein Hawks, but will be without Steve Simmonds, Ken Graham and Roy Latta, who were all solid performers last week.

Harry Munro steps across to skip Simmonds’ rink and Mick Donaghy slots in as second to Janet Vallance.

Merbein at home on the new magic carpet will be out to impress after a solid performance last week.

Two Blues to continue their run.

Workers will host Coomealla at Cureton Avenue.

The Cannons should have two wins on the board and will be fired up after their narrow loss to ladder leaders Irymple.

The dual Tyers combination last week almost proved to be the clincher and will present a real challenge to the Workers.

Mark Deacon and Geoff Peters have gelled well for Coomealla and have the capacity to dictate terms if given the chance.

Workers will be relying on strong starts from their front half to get the edge. Coomealla to fire.

After a slow start to the season Mildura has a have a full complement to challenge Irymple, and the match-ups should create some great contests.

Hogan’s Heroes under the command of Hogan T, led the way for the Suns last week.

Mildura welcome back Mark Eckel and John Huxtable, which adds both a wealth of experience and form to the Magic.

The Magic have their season in the balance and the Suns will be looking to exert their early dominance on the competition. Even money.

In division 2, Irymple host Mildura at the Cauldron.

The Magic are the only undefeated team in the competition and will be keen to continue their early form.

Red Cliffs are in second spot on percentage from three other sides. A win will be crucial for early bragging rights.

They host Merbein, who will be looking to reverse the form of the first two weeks. The Tigers by a whisker.

Nangiloc welcome Workers and will be looking to swap spots with them on the ladder.

The Demons hold a big home ground advantage and will start strong favourites.

Division 3 sees Mildura host Irymple at GHQ.

The Magic have fielded possibly their strongest side this season and will be keen to account for their performance against Underbool last week. Magic to win.

Workers host Ouyen and will be looking to add to their strong performance last week.

Ouyen have strung together two good wins and will aim to add more points to the collection and firm up a top two spot. Two Blues to win.

Underbool track across country to Banditville.

The home side Euston will be looking for a reversal of form after two losses. Top side Underbool to collect the points.

The titans of division 4 — Irymple and Mildura — clash for top of the table honours.

The Magic are without a couple of their big season imports this week and will need to be fully focused on the job at the Cauldron.

The Suns at home will be looking to collect the points and remain as the only undefeated side in the Division.

The Magic have the opportunity to steal a march on the ladder leaders. Mildura to win.

Wentworth host Red Cliffs and after steaming home to a one shot win in last week’s match of the round, will need to be on their mettle against a hungry Tigers Pack. Home side to win.

Coomealla host Euston and will have to work hard to get the points. Bandits by the bead on a pistol.
