Record partnership, monster score in big SCA bash

By Josh Riseley

A MONSTER 184-run seventh wicket partnership between two Mildura West batters has been recognised as a club record.

In just 144 balls, the duo of Aaron McClelland (121) and Shravan Gurumurthy (84) put on a clinic at Mildura Senior College, helping their team to a total of 8/401 in division two against Settlers.

It was a special day for McClelland, who for the first time ever registered a score in triple figures.

“It was pretty good fun to be honest. I wasn’t aware of any records or even our scoring rate really, it was just about being out there and getting the job done I suppose,” he said.

“If there was a bad ball, I’d just hit, and the same deal with Shrav. We worked hard to turn the strike over and keep the score moving.”

The score of 401 was monumental for West and will undoubtedly pose a huge challenge for Settlers, who struggled immensely with the ball.

“That’s definitely the highest score that I’ve ever been a part of. I don’t think I’ve ever seen 400 cracked in any of the sides that I’ve played in,” McClelland said.

“It got late in the innings, it looked like we could possibly get there which probably led to both of our demises in the end, but the guys that came in after us got the job done.”
