Hawks look to roll ladder leaders

By Chris Mitchell

MERBEIN will look to continue their resurgence when they tackle top side Mildura at Cureton Avenue in Bowls Sunraysia Pennant on Saturday.

The Hawks have been up and about in recent weeks and will be keen to test the mettle of the home side in the round 10 clash.

Shawn Fullerton and Laurie McLaine have had their rinks on song, capturing some big scalps to lift the Hawks off the bottom of the ladder.

Keith Sharman and Mark Eckel bring plenty of experience to the Magic outfit and will look to ensure their side remains on the top rung. Magic to win at home.

Workers need to bring their ‘A game’ to the fore as they welcome the shining Irymple Suns.

Workers were competitive against the Magic last week but let the game slip in the last few ends, while Irymple have been tinkering with their rinks in recent weeks in an attempt to find the right balance.

This match will be a defining episode for both sides.

A Workers’ win will open up the competition, sending a clear message to all. A Suns’ win and look out. An each way bet.

Coomealla will welcome Ouyen to the Dome. The Two Blues will be hunting for a win to stay in the mix after a run of defeats, while the Cannons also need to fire.

They made a strong start early in the season but have tailed off in recent weeks.

Two Blues to win a tight fight.

In Division 2, Irymple take on the lads from “the Loc” in the contest to decide top spot.

Nangiloc come off a big win last week and will be keen to keep the fire stoked. The Suns will start favourite at the Cauldron.

Red Cliffs have risen to the fore in the last few games, while the Magic, who led the competition earlier in the season, have dropped off the pace. The Tigers at home to take the points and jump a game clear of their opposition.

Merbein tackle Workers at Kenny Park . The visitors have plenty in the tank and will be hunting for a win going into the Christmas break.

Third division side Mildura have had an indifferent season to date and they will line up against Euston. At home Magic to salute.

Workers tackle Irymple at Cureton Avenue. The ladder leaders will be hunting to take the points and open some leeway at the top of the table. Workers will need a win to consolidate their spot in the four. The Suns will shine.

What looms as the match of the round will be the “Southern Derby” between Underbool and Ouyen at Blackburn Park. A big win by either side could see them on top of the table heading into the break. Two Blues to salute.

In Division 4, Irymple sit at the bottom of the table and will tackle Coomealla at the Cauldron. The Suns just might cause an upset in a tough encounter.

Wentworth sits on top of the table and will face off against Mildura. The Steamers will start favourites at home.

Red Cliffs will do battle with the Bandits at the Den. The Tigers will need a full tank to roll the Bandits who continue to surprise the competition. It is good to see Euston encouraging youngsters to become engaged in our great game.
