THREE rounds remain before the Red Cliffs Cricket Association finals and jostling for positions on the ladder continues.
Robinvale Euston’s important victory over Tempy last week ensured they hold a two-game gap over Millewa in fourth place, making them favourites for a finals berth.
The Rangers face the tough task of travelling to Blackburn Park to tackle ladder leaders Ouyen Rams this week, who are coming off a 101-run victory over Millewa.
Batting first, the Rams scored 9/178 from their 40 overs, led by opener Conor Schultz making 67, supported by solid knocks from Brad Parsons (28 from 19), Alex Morrish (26), Daniel Pryse (21) an Jordon Bolitho (20).
Daniel Kay’s 4/9 did most of the damage, skipper Alex Morrish taking a miserly 3/6 with six maidens from his eight overs.
Robinvale Euston’s four-wicket win began with holding Tempy to 84, Noah Lanigan impressing with 3/9 from six overs and Dilan Kottahachchige, Louie Bulzomi and Jacob Lister all chiming in with two each.
Jacob (29) and Tom Lister’s (26) work up the order was enough to see the Rangers home.
To ensure they remain a chance of making finals, Millewa will look to pull out all the stops against Nursery Ridge at Quandong Park.
Despite the Bullants’ loss last week, James Walker fired in an impressive three-over spell that yielded 2/3 while being supported by captain Scottie Clark (2/20) and Nick Clark (2/30).
All-rounder Jeremy Aworth top-scored with 17 as they were all out for 77, but Millewa have proved they can score well at the top of the order.
Ridge, who had the bye last week, are likely one win away from securing a home final at the Onion Patch. All-rounder Jason Finch has been solid all season, leading the club’s wicket-taking with 17 scalps and sitting third in scoring aggregate with 167 runs.
Daniel Nulty (175 runs), Zac Heath (169), Brad Purdue (12 wickets) and Allan Brown (10) have also been solid contributors.
Tempy have the bye this week.
