Master coach guides youth

MASTER soccer coach Fabrizio Soncin has left an impression on some of Mildura’s stars of the future, and they want him back as soon as possible.

Bendigo-based Soncin is highly regarded when it comes to moulding young talent, and as a pro-licence coach, he holds the highest qualification for coaching soccer in Australia and Asia.

Almost 40 Sunraysia Academy of Sport Athletes plus other invitees took part in a two-day coaching camp across the weekend to learn from one of the best in the business.

Soncin has an impressive coaching background, including stints in the W-League, NPL senior and junior levels, state representative teams, and more.

SAS executive officer Zac Pullman said the organisation was excited to have a coach with Soncin’s credentials work with their athletes.

“Fab has worked at some of the highest levels in Australia and is really highly regarded, especially for his work with juniors, and this is all to work towards state selection in the future,” he said.

“All of our soccer athletes are currently at the local representative level and are working towards making it further.

“We had 37 athletes from SAS, plus some other invitees to work with Fab, comprising of two sessions across each day.

“We haven’t had someone like Fab come and coach in Mildura for a long time, and the feedback was fantastic, with many people asking when he will be coming back.

“It wasn’t just the athletes who learned a lot either, parents and other coaches got to learn a bit from him as well.

“We’re keen to have him back and potentially expand on what we have already put together.”
