Bambill netball season preview

BAMBILL

COACH: Lateesha Hester

2023 SEASON: Preliminary final

FIRST MONTH: Nangiloc (A), Meringur (A), Gol Gol (H), Werrimull (H)

ARRIVALS: Elisha De Amicis, Mikayla Mole

DEPARTURES: Tessa Houkamau, Roanna Gathercole

IT was a disappointing end for Bambill last season, who finished second but failed to make it through to the grand final.

Consecutive losses to Nangiloc before a preliminary final defeat at the hands of Werrimull to close out their year was an unfortunate end to an otherwise strong season.

Coach Lateesha Hester, who will lead the A-grade team for the first time in 2024, believed finals would again be attainable.

“The girls have definitely come back with a bit of vengeance after last year,” Hester said.

“A few new faces and some good preseason numbers has everyone really excited about the season.

“It definitely feels like we’ll be stronger, with some of our additions I think that brings a bit more flexibility.

“No specific areas but I think just as a whole, stronger in all areas.”

Hester believed a number of juniors would be poised to play senior netball in 2024 and looked forward to giving them the opportunity.

“Our juniors are definitely up and coming, we’ve had a few that have turned 18 this year and are looking to play seniors, so I’d like to have them come into the to the upper grades and give them a crack there,” Hester said.

A round one match-up against Nangiloc should be a cracker, given the circumstances of last year.

“I’m sure they’ll have a similar mindset after losing the grand final, I’m sure they’ll be raring to go,” Hester said.

“The girls are very pumped to get back out on the court this year after an early finals exit last year.

“They really are just ready to go out there with a bang.”

The Saints meet Nangiloc away from home for their season opener.
