IGA Midway Buronga has been recognised three times at this year’s Victorian IGA Awards of Excellence.
The independent supermarket dominated in the medium store category, with nods for having the best delicatessen department, grocery and general merchandise department, and best overall store.
The 24 awards handed out on the evening were judged on a variety of criteria including customer service, community pride, department excellence, brand values, merchandising and the stores’ overall performance.
The store first opened in June 2020, a time when pandemic restrictions were peaking.
Manager at the supermarket Robyn Morrison said the store had come a long way since.
“The first couple of years with COVID were a very tough time for us,” she said.
“This is recognition for four years of hard work, so recognising our customer service and our story is amazing.
“I would definitely say we go the extra mile and always make sure to get special requests to customers.”
Ms Morrison said it wouldn’t have been possible without the work of her dedicated team, many of whom have been around since the beginning.
“It’s a total team effort most of the team are very invested in the way we’d like the store to run, especially the customers,” she said.
“We’ve always had a set goal to provide the best possible service to the people of Gol Gol and the greater region.”
